Cheers to BFPs in 2-0-1-6!

They got 14 eggs :) 9 were mature, another 2 are maybes so they'll need to look under a larger scope to see for sure. The embryologist will be giving us a call tomorrow morning to let us know how many fertilized!

They'll try to fertilize the 9-11 that are mature. The ones that aren't mature won't fertilize. We'll get a report tomorrow on how they're doing.

oh abe, 9 is a really good number. i hope all the eggs can be fertilised and maybe you can freeze a few for baby no.2.

fx for you hun....sending you tons of baby dust

Wow Abe thats great!!! Can't wait to see how many they were able to fertilise :D

Got the call!

Turns out 10 were mature eggies, and of those 10, 9 fertilised! I'm over the moon excited! ICSI fertilisation rates are supposed to be about 70%, so the fact we got 90% to fertilise is just wonderful and leaving me so very hopeful for this cycle!

That's amazing! When do they go back in? Sorry I'm not up on the jargon!

They will do either a Day 3 or Day 5 transfer depending on how the embryo's are doing. If they're looking iffy they'll do the 3 Day, if I've got really good looking embies on Day 3 they will wait until Day 5 for transfer.

My clinic will only transfer 1 embryo if its a day 5, and 2 if they're Day 3s. They're trying to keep the multiple birth rate down.

abe, you waited so long for babies, multiples would be wonderful too.

i hope you get to do the Day 5 transfer as then you know you have some really good eggies there and the chance of you being pregnant this cycle is 100%.

its so wonderful news. hope they call and let you know how things have went with the eggies.

sending you baby dust

Looks like we may be going to Day 5! Of the 9 embryos:
  • 7 are growing at a normal rate (4 cells)
  • 1 is growing at a faster rate, which may indicate chromosomal abnormalities (5 cell)
  • 1 is growing at a slower rate (3 cell)

This is excellent news! The embryologist will call tomorrow with another update, and let us know if I need to come in for transfer or not in the afternoon. If not, we should be good to go on Saturday!

I woke up today at 1:45am, and couldn't go back to sleep. This is happening more often lately, I think it's related to the pregnancy but also probably combined with everything else going on in my head with school about to start up again and students coming back on Tuesday. I didn't manage to get back to sleep until after 3:30 and then only slept until 4:30. :( We had teacher development today, so it was a very long day. We have one more day of training tomorrow and then I have Friday and Monday to get my classroom ready and curriculum ready and then students on Tuesday.

I'm not sure I'm ready this year. I think I'm ready just not mentally ready.

Broody - that's great! :hugs: So exciting!

Whimsical - Thanks. <3 :)

Abe - Congrats on the egg retrieval! So exciting!! I'm so happy you got such a great fertilization rate! Do they freeze the rest of the eggs ? I'm not 100% sure on how the whole process works. This sounds so exciting and that things are going well!! Can't wait to hear how this goes! :happydance:

Angel i think you may be having going back to school blues. it may just be because you starting this year of pregnant and have to take it much more easier and knowing the kids, the chances of that are rare. i hope once you get all your kids and are a little more settled then your sleep will be better.

Abe you have some great eggs. i hope you do it Saturday. sending you baby dust galore. you will get your bfp soon.

Angel- I hope not sleeping is a good sign (which I never thought I would say - I've an avid fan of sleep). They'll freeze any left after transfer that make it to blastocyst stage (Day 5 embryos). It's a little nerve wracking. I've heard horror stories of everything going perfectly fine as of Day three and then Day four they all stop growing. Just hoping that doesn't happen.

Rubbish isn't it Angel? I've been waking at 3 nearly every morning since the start of my pregnancy. Doesn't help that I constantly need to wee! I'm going to be knackered by the end of it. I was the same last time though. I actually got more sleep with a newborn! Not sure how that will work this time with an early rising toddler too! I'd imagine yours is also as you're thinking about work
