Save the child benefit, ds1 has nearly 5 grand in his savings account. I spend the tax credits but all of that and much much more goes on the boys clothes toys outings etc
We use tax credits to go towards bills, food, clothes etc and child benefit at the moment is going on Christmas presents. Once xmas is over with it will be shared out between my 3 children and going into their savings account. x
I spend it on whatever Aliyah/I need.
I do have a jar where me and OH put a pound in a day (doesn't seem like much) but my mum & sisters put money in there too..And we are going to smash it open on Aliyah's 1st birthday and put that into her account and there should be around 750 by then x
I wish I could save more, but at the mo I can only afford to put £20 a month into Brady's CTF, we couldn't live without I use CTC and CB on food, bills and essentials for Brady. I budget £80 a week for food shopping and activities and I have a little rainy day fund in case I see things like nappies on offer and I can buy them in bulk or clothes sales for the next size up of Brady's clothes. I wouldn't say I'm skint but I am pretty tight with money and I dont think I can stretch my budget any more at the moment to save more money for his future, but he has what he needs right now and I'm hoping to go back to uni next year to do my Primary teaching PGCE so hopefully in a few years I will be in a position to save more for him (at which point CTC probably wont even exist anymore!)
CB and WTC go into the joint account and are used to pay bills and spending money.
We have a savings account for Chloe (not the trust fund as we have no control over the money and we don't want her wasting it when she turns 18!)
We put £30 a month in it and any other money that relatives have given her goes in it too, I think she has about £700 in there already!
I don't know what will happen when we have another baby or when CB becomes means tested as OH will hopefully be earning more by then but it means we will not be eligable for CB.
