Child support?

Does the dad have to be on the birth cert to have to pay child support? He's not denying paternity or anything cos he knows he's the dad so just wondered? x

I'm sure he still has to pay it, regardless of whether he's on the birth certificate or not.

I've already looked into this for myself.

Seeing as unmarried couples need both parents to be present when registering the birth in order to have the father's name on the BC, it would be stupid to deny child support because he couldn't be bothered to show to get his name on.

So, you can still claim child support regardless of who is on the certificate and the only way he doesn't have to pay if he can provide a DNA test proving he's not the father.

Another bonus of being in the UK means that the CSA will make sure you get maintainance, even if he's trying to resist. A lot of the time, they can go to his employer and take the money for you before he even gets his wages (that's what my mom ended up doing with my dad).

Nope he won't be signing the birth certificate. Can he still be named though? Or will they put it as 'unknown' or whatever? x

I think they leave it blank... He can be added to it at literally any time as long as he bothers to fill in some forms and whatnot.

He will still pay child support regardless of being on the BC or not. BC gives parental rights and responsibilities, doesn't relate to monies.
If FOB is not present at the birth certificate signing he won't be named at all.
