Hiya

Okay gonna try not to confuse you. Lol. Had renewal letter and looks like we dont need to do anything, we have an open claim but arent eligible for any ctc. In novemver new baby will areive and I will let them know, we will be able to get approx £30 pm based on last years p60 figures. This years p60 figures will be a little less as I will be on smp from sept so when we update them in april if they owe us any will they just pay lump sum into bank?

Also next july we will start paying childcare and will be able to get quite a bit of help, will I be able to work out our estimated earnings for 2014-2015 and give them that (in our recent letter they ask if we will earn kess than 25k or 23k this year - I am guessing they use those figures to work out what you can get). I dont want to next july give them our figures for this year and we then owe them money they year after. Lol.

How far in advance can you give notice that you will be starting to pay childcare?

I do a half day at work but the hours i work between dropping them off and picking them up will overlap the morning and afternoon session by approx half an hour so will have to pay a full day I am assuming. Do I let tax credits know the rates inckuding this full day even though they wont actually be in childcare for the full day? Sorry if thats confusing. Lol

TIA

Xx

you don't tell them in advance, you call them the day the childcare starts

lana is in full time nursery so i dont know about how things work otherwise

Thanks. Hopefully they are open til late when that date comes round as I will be at work all day and hopefully the nursery will wait til the end of each month for payment as I cant afford to pay the childtax credit proportion specally out of smp. Lol. Xx

Aww on gov.uk it says that now if you already claim tax credits you can call up to 7 days before childcare starts to update the claim. Thats a bit more doable. Lol.

Oh o never knew that, when I was thinking of putting lana in nursery they didnt accept any changes until they actually happened so thats good they let you have a week now. Not sure about the nursery waiting for fees though, I have used 3 private nurserys between all kids and each one required a deposit and a months ffees upfront. Now I pay a week in advance rather than a month because its easier for us but I did have to find a weeks deposit plus a month upfront initially

That sucks. I am sure I spoke to them and they said we can pay on invoice but I am not sure where I wrote it down. I will have to check. I think one wanted like £20 deposit which is ok. Lol. If they want a month up front then I dont think we will be able to send them to nursery, I wouldnt be able to find 1k that we wouldnt get back as I think then when ctc paid I would then have to pay for the next month. I really hope I didnt dream it as if they dont allow that then we are screwed.

Xx

ts all so confusing.Based on last years earnings for we will be able to get approx 30 pm ctc but 2013-2014 i will earn about 3k less due to smp so based on tgat we would be able to get approx 165 pm ctc so end of this tax year will they give us a lump sum payment if we woukd of been able to get more this year?

Then next year 14-15 my wage will go back up as I go back to work etc so shoukd I give them an estimate for that year so they dont overpay me childcare etc based on this years earnings. lol

xx

I thought you could ask them to use an estimate for this year rather than last years actual deducting 100p.w for your mat pay. But be careful about under estimates x

Yeah I could give them an estimate for this year but I would prefer them to use last years figures jist til april and then I think I can give them actual figures when we get our p60 and take my 100 pw maternity off tgat cant I? or do I HAVE to tell them my figures based on maternity when I update them about new baby in nov? Its all so confusing. Lol. i will estimate next year for sure as I dont want tyem to go by this years figures and overpay childcare. It can be a pain as hubby gets a bonus every quarter but we never know what it will be (has ranged from 50-about 200) and he gets a bonus at xmas and a 4% payrise eqch january so estimating can be a nightmare!

xx

I was under the impression they only back dated so many weeks but I'm not an expert so could be wrong! I'm gping do give them my estimate and oh p60 and hope for the best. If I notice he is earning more ill save the money but I think we'll be fine. We don't qualify whilst on full pay but do on mat pay figures. Every little helps with the drop of income! X

Ah see I thought you gave last yrs earnings and then come the end of tax year if they have underpaid then you go in a lump sum. Lol. I will have to try give them an estimate of earnings for this year in november using my total pay to date in wage slip then what i would earn til april added on top then take off maternity. Thats if the above isnt possible. Lord knows how i will work out hubbys estimated though as I dint know what bonuses he will get dec and jan and I dont know if he will deffo get a payrise come jan or not. xx

It's not a system easy to understand. I will be ringing them in October so I'll post back whether they advise its better to wait until the end of the tax year or not x

Thanks hun. I think they try to make it as complicated as poss. Lol. xx
