Christmas Decorating

What kind of things do you use to decorate your house. I ususally tinsel the door frames and pop little christmassy type ornaments around but I still think it looks crappy.
So please give me (and maybe anyone else who is interested) ideas by sharing what you do to decorate your house and make it feel really Christmassy.

We havent had much money to decorate.. we we use Popcorn, pinecones, ornaments, foil stars, just cheap things

last year we went and picked a load of pine cones and put them under the tree, you could spray them gold ect too. When you get them home put them in cold water that will open them getting rid of bugs and then you need to put them in the oven to get rid of sap

It's my first xmas in my home. Can't have a big xmas tree...Liam will probably pull it down, and if he doesn't one of our 4 cats will!
Will have lots of ceiling decorations. Tinsel around the mirror. Going to look on ebay and see if I can get my hands on some cheap singing teddy's. They'll look good and Lim will love playing with them!
snow spray on the windows.
Christmas cards on sting.

I'm also going to look for some little red bows or xmas hats for the cats.

we just put a big tree up really and decorate it, Lilly has got too many toys this year though so was thinking of getting a smaller slimline tree and then maybe decorating the fireplace etc x

Its my first Christmas in my own flat so I am gonna aim to do it really nice.. Mum and dad gave me their tree that they bought last year because its tall and skinny and she likes big fat ones! Lol.
I have white decorations with silver too so I am gonna go for that theme all around.. I am gonna try and hang some christmas lights outside too!! Cant wait!

its our first christmas in our own home this year i bought loads of decs last year incase we moved out before christmas but we didnt end up moving in here til march!
im going to get a slimline tree so it will fit beside the tv stand (our living room is only small) i have alot of disney decorations and as we going to dlp in november im going to get some more to complete it, i have a long patchwork red green and white hearts and stars garland from john lewis i got last year which will probably go around the fireplace, i have a mickey mouse stocking i got when i was 4 which im going to pass on to jesse and need to buy me and OH stockings LOL, and we need some lights for the window and some other bits, my mums house always looks like santas grotto and i guess we will be going the same way! OH wants to go all out cus his parents only have a tree and they put it up on like the 23rd or something!! ours is going up 1st december on the dot hahaha xx

haha im sort of like that, OH said they had balloons at his house as decorations and i cringed, no offence to anyone that has balloons but i find it abit tacky and tinsel i dont really like either i like the bead garlands better and i hate the foil crap on the ceiling haha lights are a must though!!

hahaha i did think of having just gold but i like bright, i think bright can be tasteful as long as you dont just throw aload of stuff at the room, if you do it right it can look good! xx

i dont like the foil things either,my mum has them every year :/ whenever you walk in the living room you get bonked on the head with something shiny from the ceiling

i like ribbons/xmas candles/reath(sp?) for the door etc x

my mom seems to go OTT with the fairy lights too....and fake snowxx

I hate foil but the kids like them so in their rooms only!! LOL

We have tree, lights, baubles. I put fairy lights around the lounge and tube lights on the stars, I like a reef on door and mistletoe. I also collect fir cones with the kids and we spray paint some of them gold. x

I'm not a big fan of tinsel either it malts everywhere and those ceiling decorations are just not to my taste and attract dust and cobwebs..
I don't really go mad with decorating, I buy a real christmas tree every year and decorate that with lights, baubles, ribbons ect! I put a light curtain in the window, have a few candles put out. I'm really quite crap when it comes to decorating because it always looks cluttered iyswim then starts to do my head in after a week

my mum always gets those airwick christmas air fresheners and i i always remember walkin in the door and smelling it and you knew shed put the tree up haha i think im gunna get some too it makes the whole house more christmassy!

Ooo yeah I like those plug in's especially the cinammony ones! The febreeze christmas one is the best I think, it smells lush!
