I love decorating and past years my home looked like santas grotto but this year we toning down a bit by not having any ceiling decs.

We having big 6ft tree in corner totaly smoothered in flashing lights and decs.Flashing lights at windown with 2 silohet (sp) santa/snowman lights (one at each side of living room window) tinsel around mantel piece, mirrow and doors. Also have orniments dotted around. As Lexi will only be 2 months old we are adding to the lights a bit so there more to keep her interested x

im going brown and gold this year to go with my living room...i will have a front door reef too and some fair lights in my front window:)

i hate tinsel with a passion

we just go with a few ceiling decs,
the tree and then various candles/
ornaments dotted about the place

gonna get a nice wreath this year
for door

we only decorate the living room
and the hallway

What are ceiling decorations? I don't think I've ever seen any used before?

These are the kind we had growing up. I could never, ever stomach having these on my ceiling!!!! I spent 15 years of having those when I lived at home.. No thanks!!

I am quite simplistic when it comes christmas decorations, I want to do more this year though. We have a big 6ft tree with a colour scheme (I actually can't remember what! We're changing it this year) and it looked gorgeous last year. Tegan has a gorgeous wooden advent calendar that cost us a bomb. We didn't do window or outside lights this year because of the way our house is. Our bedroom window is next to the front door, and next to that is the garage so from the front of the house the only window you can see is the bedroom window. The kitchen, living room and other two bedrooms are at the back of the house.

Those ones look a bit tacky don't they! Honestly I've never been in anyones house where they put decorations on the ceiling. Maybe I just don't know any christmas fanatics.

We have a nice big tree - no clue where on earth it will go this year. Lo's toys will need a new home! Decorate it with red and gold and white lights. I don't like tinsel or colours lights.

then last year we have some oranaments/teddies that go on the fireplace! Gradually building up a supply of xmas things :D

I think its a UK thing to be honest, none of my friends from overseas have ever had anything similar  They were cheap and tacky, made from foil, and left marks on your ceiling where you'd either had to hold them up with thumb pins or blue tack (this way wayyy before they'd bought the new blue tack out that didn't leave greasy stains!) Mum had to redecorate every year just after xmas
