Christmas Decorating

Mine will be hand made again. I made some special ones for DS last year and will be making some for DD this year. I have all the bits cut out already for DS's advent calendar just need to sew them together and figure out what will go in them.
I like things quite old fashioned and rustic, wooden ornaments, advent candles, holly etc we do have a bit of tinsel but I'd rather have hand made strings of beads (will be doing this with DS this year out of salt dough)

We ususally just do one room, the living room. Have a tree in the corner but may have to re-think that with a mobile Chloe with a shiny thing addiction :haha:

We wont be decorating our flat as we're driving back to our family in the UK...but at my parents we have our tree, lights up in the windows, candles, ornaments, tinsel round photoframes etc
xx

has anyone seen on hobbycraft site they have great homemade ideas on there, im going to make my cards, wreath and stockings and few xmas decors if i get the chance... well this is what i plan, whether it happens is a different story :haha:

last year i moved the lounge around so we could fit in a massive real tree, covered in fairy lights and blue/silver/purple baubles, then i had fairy lights around the edge of the ceiling in the lounge. I had little wooden hearts (like twigs all wrapped around together) covered in glitter hanging up too. Then in the hall way i had a big vase with those twigs that have lights on! We sprinkled star sequins under the tree over all the presents...and thats it :)

Our christmas cards were along the balcony windowsill which worked quite well as we dont open those doors in wintertime. :)

just realised how many "twigs" i had

twigs is quite a funny word LOL

I've got 2 trees, one 6' and one 3'. I decorate them both in gold and red, and put clear lights on the big one. They are both topped with stars (the star which goes on the biggest tree was made by my dad many years ago, and is older than I am!). I have a set of star-shaped lights that hang in the living room window, and I've got a wreath for the front door (I want a new one though, this one's a bit tatty and was only cheap to begin with!). My old plush stocking hangs from the bookcase, and I've just bought a new card holder off ebay. It's got Father Christmas and his reindeer at the top, and the cards go underneath. I've also got a big Santa sack with my name on it! :haha:
As you can probably guess, I'm just a big kid about Christmas! I even worked in Father Christmas's Grotto when I was a student!

...it was either twigs or sticks  not sure which sounds worse. people will think i live in a mud hut or shed or something

We have our Christmas tree and a decoration my parents bought us for Amy's 1st Christmas; it's a fireplace with three stockings hanging from it with our names on.
That's pretty much all we have.

oo iv just remembered i have this really cool whinnie the pooh count down to christmas thing its way cute i cant wait til we decorate and then we can all take pics to compare haha xx

Blah, your decorations are my fantasy:rofl: I'd love it to look like that. We have a 5 foot tree with gold decorations, always lots of tinsel, and we put the cards up on a string on the wall or on the doors. Bits of tinsel go round the bottom of the tv and round the mirror too.

omg i never even took a pic of mine last year! heres the corner of it

Im a christmas decorations snob  I hate anything foily like tinsel so only have ribbon on my tree and i hate ceiling decorations and things that light up LOL

OMG would you hate my house at christmas!!!

I love a good old tacky Christmas so lots of things hanging from the ceiling and those massive garland things going from corner to corner. The foil smell reminds me of Christmas lol

I also have a few things that light up and sing. dancing santas etc

I promise i have more taste the rest of the year but at christmas i am the tack queen

Well if you can get away with it at all then it's at christmas!

my mum always gets those airwick christmas air fresheners and i i always remember walkin in the door and smelling it and you knew shed put the tree up haha i think im gunna get some too it makes the whole house more christmassy!

 My mum buys these too. The winter apple and cinnamon ones! They do lots of others too.. Think I might also buy some for my house... Such a Christmassy thing!

Oooh, yeah! I get them too!
I also forgot to mention that I have a nativity scene advent countdown thing. It starts off as a big cardboard stable, and each day through December you add another character to build up the scene. The star goes on first, all the way through to the baby Jesus on Christmas Eve.

I only do the living room. I usually have an over dressed multicoloured tree ( I don't liked themed colour tree's, I like all colours lol), ceiling trimmings and singing bobbing snowmen and santa's on the window ledges or fireplace. I am hoping to put lights in the window this year too.

Yeah, I agree. Each to their own but tbh I couldn't afford to buy all these different themed decorations each year. I have a big old tatty box filled with the last 3 years decorations which gets dug out and I re-use my stuff every year. It's nice, the tree star is special. I do buy a couple of new things though just to add to it. :)
