I've just started gathering all the bits for christmas eve, so we always have new pj's and slippers, a new Christmas book, a Christmas DVD and a little present for mads.

We get all cosy, before she goes to bed, enjoy a nice (Christmas) dvd and read her a new Christmas book before bed. We then put all the pressie's out, and her stocking and enjoy a Christmas drink or too!

What do you do? I feel like i'm missing something we did last year :dohh:

Last year was a rush cos i work on xmas eve and we had to pick up the turkey and stuff then i had to wrap ALL my presents :( I'm going to be a bit more organised and i'll wrap the presents way before. this is my plan FX.

Finish work at 1.15pm, OH picks up turkey in the mean time then picks me up from work. When we get home I'll prepare the turkey (i do nigella recipe) and the inlaws will come round for a while. After that we'll get a chinese for tea and watch some christmas eve TV together then get amelie bathed and let her open her new PJs and new story which i'll read her. She goes off to bed then we'll do a quick tidy up, put the dishwasher on and empty it etc etc have a drinky maybe and then set the presents out for amelie :D

xmas eve we watch a dvd and get into our nice new js
we then sing a couple of xmas songs and then put the kids to bed

me and karl clean the house (dont want it looking a mess for santa):winkwink:
we then put the presents out have a drink sprinkle some glitter and put footsteps in the glitter have a drink and go to bed xxx

we have a "magical elf" stay with us from dec 1st - (see magical elf tradition on net). and on xmas eve he always brings a santa sack of bits - like you say new pjs, xmas dvd, popcorn or sweets for dvd, the "magic key" to leave outside for santa (doesnt fit any door, was from key cutting shop that had gone wrong), a xmas story, bubble bath for b4 pjs, reindeer food for garden.

the kids put the key and reindeer food outside after tea, are bathed using new bubble bath, get pjs on, they bring fleece blankets down and we snuggle up to watch dvd. when its finished they leave mince bboys and drink out with note for santa, head to bed for story and then (hopefully) sleep!

We watch xmas DVD and have a nice lunch, then take Grace to pick a new xmas teddybear (last year was a HUGE reindeer lol) We have chinese with my parents, bath Grace there and she puts on her new pyjamas. When we get home she puts everything out for santa and we read her a xmas story before she goes to sleep (then get shouted in every 10 mins for Grace to tell us she just heard father christmas and is he here yet? errr no Grace, it's 8pm!!!) xx

This Christmas is our first on our own in our new home so we are looking forward to it..
Christmas eve I have to work but its only for an hour so I will take the girls to nursery and then go to work, go home and sort out all my bits before going to pick the kids up and we will probably go and spend the evening round my mums where I will get the girls ready for bed. We will then take them home put them to bed and enjoy our evening before the morning. Im not cooking as we spend the day at my mum and dads so I shall be having a nice chill out without no mention of cooking

I wish we had kiddies around Christmas time, makes it so much more special….we do absolutely nothing. OH works, I’m off…watch Christmas film I guess…

Sorry to be bah humbug…but I love reading what you all do!

xx

Oh I love Christmas! When I was younger we would always set out brandy & mince pies for Father Christmas & a carrot for the reindeer & hang up our stockings. My dad always watches 'Its a Wonderful Life' & now I'm in my own home I watch 'White Christmas' & drink Baileys & eat chocolates, while OH always goes out for Christmas Eve drinks (gets completely hammered, not a good thing!). I love sitting by candle & fairylight, feeling all warm & snuggly listening to christmas songs & eating chocolate, nuts, all the yummy christmas treats! Oh & my mum always cooks a gammon joint on Christmas eve so we go over for dinner.

Hmm I thought I didn't have many traditions, maybe I do?!

Aww lovely posts I'm feeling all festive after reading everyones.

Our first Christmas with LO so we will be starting a little tradition. Going to wait for OH to come home just after lunch, maybe make some mince pies or something. In the evening we are going to have new pjs, have bought LO a new christmas book which lights up so she will have that and go to bed. Me and OH will then have a take away and snuggle up and watch a christmas DVD. Man why is christmas still over 2 months away i'm so excited.
