Im looking at ways to budget this year because im now officially a college student, which everyone knows means lack of pennies. My fees (which were £300) wont be paid off till Febuary so therefor its taken a chunk out of each months money :(

Yeah we spent way over 1k last year :dohh:

I feel bad having more than that saved this year but intending to spend it on myself instead!

I think the best thing to do is set a $ amount and abide by that. I will be doing my best to stick to an amount as well this year.

ived spent less than 100 on archie this year but i know the things ive got him he will play with

last years stuff sits in his room pretty much unused mostly hes far more interested in the paper and boxes than the actual gift anyhow

I will only be getting caleb a few present this year . his birthday is 3rd december so very close. I think family will spoil him to.
I definately agree they enjoy playing with paper and boxes lol xx

Amelie must the the only baby who has played with every single thing she got last year

im saving for a bigger car so our budget is pretty small this year too we are buyin the girls a main present each(£40 quads) and then just a few other peppa bits etc they arnt fussy

We went mad last year and they hardly played with any of it so this year we have cut down they are all getting a bike each and 4 or 5 smaller presents they get a lot of other presents of family to so they will still have quite a lot to open x x

I think its easy to get carried away. I write a list of things that I want to get and I also write how much I want to spend and I stick to it that way!
I only spend £15 on my aunty and uncle, £20 on my brother and sister £20 on my niece, £40 on mum and £40 on dad. Mark is a sod because he likes expensive but I get expensive in return so I cant complain  So he usually is about £200 and the twins usually get about £50 on them because I buy them presents from my wage and OH will buy them presents from his wage, its from both of us but we dont split money he keeps his and I keep mine so we do it like that. I dont buy for OH's family either he does that out of his money!

we bought loads last year i have no idea how much we spent but to be fair there was a lot that were cheap little bits so looked alot more but still spent a fortune and this year i dont want to waste cash and dont have the room for it all!
its her birthday on 30th nov too so she is having a dolly and pram for her bday with a few baby bits but not going mad, i know she wont be interested in anything else anyway then for xmas she is having a kitchen (grandad buying) and we buying bits to go with that, aquadraw and some other bits but seriously dont want to waste cash!

Maddi did too hon, and the same for her birthday presents as well! i agree with leeanne, setting a budget is the way forward, and being together as a family is what it's all about :D

we finally set our budget for family (parents, siblings & partners & children) last night, we are on a strict budget this year as we are looking to move in spring

Wonder what MIL's face will be like this year! Last year we set a £15 per person budget with more for children and well you should have seen her face when she opened her gift and it wasn't the usual £60 - £70 gift she was used to getting!
