Hi everyone

I was diagnosed with pcos 12 years ago. About 6 years ago my husband and I started to try for a baby but with no luck. We waited 3 years before seeing a fertility specialist on the NHS who told me they couldn't give me any help until I lost 20kg! So a disappointed me went off and tried to lose weight. But fast forward 2 years and I hadn't lost nearly enough. So I went to see a doctor privately who said I could try clomid.

I've just had my first round and am anxiously going through scans at the moment.

So firstly I think I took the clomid at the wrong time. I think I took it when I was spotting instead of an actual bleed.

But anyway scan results were as follows

Scan 1 - day 10 - follicle on left ovary 18mm. Endometrial lining 10mm.
Scan 2 - day 13 - follicle on left ovary 22mm. Fluid was around my ovary but couldn't be sure I had ovulated. Endometrial lining 12.99mm
Scan 3 - day 15 - follicle on left ovary 23mm. Endometrial lining 19.96mm.

My next scan is on Tuesday which will be day 20. And a blood test on day 21.

But I'm so confused. My fertility doctor isn't concerned with my endometrial lining but a fertility nurse said that even if I did ovulate because my lining would be starting to break down an egg wouldn't implant so basically I have no chance of getting pregnant this cycle. Any advice on this?

Also anyone have really sore nipples on clomid? I don't normally get sore nipples but they have been so sore the past couple of days!

Thanks!

Hiya, I've just started my first cycle of clomid too! I've only been put on 25mg (half a tablet) to start with. I have polycystic ovaries without the syndrome, whatever that means lol. I haven't had sore nipples, but my nipples have changed colour! They have a purple tinge to them! LOL. It's really interesting hearing about your scans, I haven't had mine yet, mines on 3rd December and I'm feeling anxious for it. It'd be nice to chat to you through our first month of clomid if you wanted to? X

Hey hun

Thank you! Hope it all goes well for you too! Did you have mature follicles with the 50mg of clomid that didn't break or were the follicles small? Hope you don't mind me asking - just curious about how it works with everyone!x

I am a confusing one me lol so I had a hycosy done the month before starting clomid my tubes are fine and they see a follicle on my left side fast forward my period come I started my clomid went for my scan still a follicle on the left side but only 8mm so way to small but it was on my left side again but now on my right side I have cysts! So basically no I didn’t produce a big enough follicle to ovulate from but I have now gained some cysts haha. I also had a 21 day blood test and my results were only 1.3 so very low. Xx

A 23mm follicle is fully mature and can be triggered with HCG to ensure ovulation at this point. Your lining is almost too thick, but as long as you have the triple stripe, implantation can occur, though it's not guaranteed. At this point I don't see why they would be rescanning you considering your follicle has reached well beyond maturity. If you see a follicle over 25mm tomorrow, ask if you can have a trigger shot. You don't want that follicle growing over 30mm. That would mean that it's too "ripe" and could break down before being ovulated.

Hi Promise07

Thank you so much for your advice. I'll be honest, I've shed some tears over this! Will definitely speak to them tomorrow about a trigger shot. The lady doing the scan said my lining was 'beautiful' but will ask her about the triple stripe as well!

I can go to sleep with a smidge of hope. I know it's not guaranteed but I was really worried that if they said my lining was too thick would it not be the same problem the next time.

Thank you!x

Honestly you may ovulate that egg on your own soon without needing a trigger shot. What CD are you on? The size is BEAUTIFUL! Have you considered DTD every other day to cover your bases just in case you ovulate before the scan?

Either way, that lining is super cushy and I hope you get a nice, strong fertilized egg to implant in it! Please update tomorrow after your scan!

Oh I hope so! I'm on CD 20 now so hoping I ovulated possibly over the weekend. We have been baby dancing every other day since day 10 :) after my first scan the fertility specialist said I could ovulate any day and we didn't want to miss it. The scan is in a few hours. I'm excited and nervous! Fingers crossed it's good news- will keep you posted :) xx

Awesome! I'm waiting for the results! I'm so excited for you!

Scan done! I ovulated! Somewhere between day 15 and 20.

However my lining is now 26mm! The lady doing my scans is a midwife and said it's the thickest she has ever seen. Not sure if it's a good thing though. I've got an appointment with my nurse tomorrow for my 21 day blood test so will pick her brain.

I'm not sure how to feel to be honest. Im happy I ovulated but concerned about my lining!

So I've done a bit more reading. Not sure if I should have done though as loads i read said I had cancer :(

Anyway I did read something that was interesting. I had a bleed and on day 2 I took the clomid. But then day 3 onwards I had no bleed. So effectively I only had a 2 day bleed. Apparently having a shorter bleed can result in your lining being thicker than average.

All the research I've done says that a thicker lining is good but doesn't tell me actual numbers which is a bit annoying.

Anyway I ovulated so now I have a two week wait. Any advice on distracting myself for 2 weeks?!

Hi all

Me again! Fertility doctor said 'womb lining is not exact science. The really positive news is the ovulation. I would much rather a thicker lining than a thinner one'

So I am anywhere between 2 and 7dpo.
I don't know if i'm reading too much into things but symptoms over the past 2 days

1) fluttering feeling on left side. Almost like a heart palpitation but for your left abdominal side
2) Horrible metallic taste in mouth
3) Some stomach pain
4) Bloated
5) Still have sore nipples

Probably reading far too much into it but thought I'd note down symptoms anyway!

I am very familiar with Clomid! Used to to conceive two of my babies. :)

Clomid loves to mimic early pregnancy symptoms. It was pure torture!

I am wishing you the absolute best though! :hugs: I had great success with it. :)

Thanks! My head is telling me its far too early to test but my heart is telling me 'what's the harm?!'

I like to buy the cheapies, those giant boxes have a million in them so I could test as much as I wanted :haha:
By the time a cheapie went positive, the FRER was blazing. :)
