Hi Ladies! I have a minor Clomid dilemma that I'd like your advice on....

I am waiting for AF at the mo (2 days late but not getting my hopes up at all) ......

If AF arrives tomorrow/friday/sat/sun I'll be due to ov 14 days later but I am away - WITHOUT hubby.... It seems a massive waste of pills to take them knowing we won't be able to BD at the right time... so do I skip this month and take them next month or take them anyway??

I am away Thurs 25th - Mon 29th Nov so as I was due AF on Monday was thinking I'd ovulate before I went away & everything would be fine & dandy.

Would skipping a month be detrimental like do you "build up" fertility as the months go on with clomid or is every month entirely separate & has no effect on the following months?

This is my last month on 50mg and then I have 3 months on 100mg.... I feel like every month really counts and feel a bit panicky that we are 2 attempts down and only 4 attempts left on clomid before we move onto IVF

What would you ladies do? xxx

Hi. Just wondering what days you usually take clomid? I take it CD2-6 and this cycle I toyed with the idea of taking it later, in order to make o day a bit later to fit in with my holiday. As it happens I was OK anyway. I know a lot of ladies take it CD5-9. Just a thought... Good luck anyway, I hope it pans out in your favour. Hopes

I would definitley call your doc's office and let them know whats going on. I'm going to be on Clomid this month and the first thing they told me is call us when you get AF cause it's going to be around the holiday's and we want to get it just right (I'm also having IUI so they really do have to be involved) I think that they can play with taking it earlier or later but if niether work for you they might tell you to take a break.

Best of luck!!!!!

Hi

I usually take it 2-6 as well, if you take it cd5-cd9 will it mean you ov later? I didn't realise that.... might look into doing that then xx

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll try and call the clinic tomorrow and see what they say xx

First off, I'm hoping you have a BFP right now :)

However, assuming AF came today, you would be CD14 on Nov 23rd. So depending on when AF shows, you probably still have a decent chance. If AF starts 2 days from now, CD14 would be the day you are leaving, get some morning BDing in, and you're fine... even if you ovulate the day after you leave, its still very possible that BDing from the morning of the 25th or the day before will give you a great chance at conception.

If you don't know that CD14 would be O day, that might be a bit trickier. But until AF shows, you won't know what to do for sure.

There is nothing wrong with taking a break and it can be beneficial if you have any of the bad side effects from clomid like your CM diminishing etc.
The only bad thing about taking a break would be if your cycles were not regular or if you didn't ovulate on your own normally and by taking a break, you could be setting yourself back more time.

I wasn't ovulating before clomid and had a 48 day cycle followed by a 80+ day cycle with no ovulation that had to be ended with provera.
So when I was told to take a break, I was very worried. My first cycle I ovulated right on time as normal.. my next cycle I ovulated late and had a 42 day cycle.
So even if you were prone to long cycles before you may be fine skipping one clomid round.

Hi. I really don't know for sure, it's just that I have always thought I o'd later in my cycle - they are usually between 30-36 days but when I o'd on clomid it was CD14 and then CD15. I am in my 2ww so don't know what will happen this time but on the 1st cycle when I o'd CD14, cycle was just 29 days which is short for me. Am I making sense?! I hope so! Probably is advisable to speak to a Dr before changing the days, now I come to think of it. X

Thanks Lisa, I was hoping you'd post as you're such a TTC brainbox! :winkwink:

I guess I'll have to wait and see when AF arrives and then decide from there, if cd14 is going to be on the Fri/Sat/Sun that I'm away then maybe I'll take a break this month... my cycles were irregular before Clomid but only 21-41 days, nothing too extreme ....

Not feeling at all positive for my BFP this month xxx

aw, I understand, have you tested at all or waiting until you're sure its late?

I was planning on waiting til the weekend before testing.... but cracked and tested this morning and got :bfn: so altho still no sign of AF & no symptoms other than sore boobs... I'm not at all optimistic, just got to wait for the auld witch to turn up  xx

aw, i wont pump you full of false hope, but you're not out until the witch shows, so I'm still hoping for you!

My OB said you should really take clomid for 3 consecutive cycles, as it does build up in your system.

Hope you get a BFP this month!
