Cluster feeding

Why do they cluster feed in the evenings?

Alex will feed every hours from 9pm untill i go to bed (usually 12-1am)

Might just be his hungry time, or might be that your supply is a bit lower after nursing him all day so he doesn't get as much at each feeding so hungry faster?

I was told they cluster feed to get them full for the night... Its like a tank up... Although I wouldnt trust my midwife who told me that to much.

i def say its not filling him up, he still goes 3 hours till next feed once he finally settles.

Yeah thats what I was thinking cause Athena eats more at night and it still does nothing for her...

It is them preparing to go longer at night but remember they only have tiny stomachs. Isobel cluster feeds from 6pm to 9pm.

I'd say starting to prepare to sleep longer at night aswell and perhaps likely to be just wanting some mommy cuddles before bedtime. If i remember rightly my daughter started cluster feeding from tea time with 3/4 feeds before bedtime (about 12pm then) and about 10 days later she started sleeping at night much longer.
