How do you do it?!

My baby is 6 weeks old and I would just like to have a couple of glasses of alcohol soon?! However we co sleep, he won't sleep at night in his Moses basket and I ebf. I have a freezer stash of milk in case I need to use it for any reason, and I know that the rule is if I feel sober then its safe to feed him my milk however.......how do I enjoy a drink while co sleeping?? I understand that its a no no while under the influence of alcohol.

So is it just a no no until I stop bf then? Or how did you ladies do it?

X

i'm tea total at the mo, been so long since i drank it doesn't bother me. Chocolate is what gets me through!

I figure if im sober enough to bf im sober enough to co sleep. i always feed her before bed so if i have a drink i have one late afternoon lol!

Maybe have a couple of drinks earlier in the evening so you sober up by the time you go to sleep?

I just won't drink until she's done BFing.

I know it's probably fine but its only alcohol.

I've given up dairy and soya for her which are much less damaging than alcohol so I'd feel silly have wine but not milk on my cereal!

I suggested that to my oh that I just won't drink until he's 1 and he seems unimpressed lol. I was never a big drinker before though! Probably once every couple of months!

Tbh id rather put the health/safety of baby before my own pleasure anyway :) x

I wouldn't drink any alcohol and co-sleep, for me it's too much of a risk. I only stopped BF'ing DS for a couple of weeks before I fell pregnant with DD so at this point I've had about 3 glasses of wine in 2.5 years, 1 drink would probably knock me clean out :haha:

I didnt drink at all until she was nearly 6 months, then I would only have one and not within a few hours of bed.

I honestly wouldn't do it. I have had nights when sober I am breast feeding, feeling uber awake then BAM, I wake up 4 hours later and we have both fallen asleep in bed in the same position.
I wouldn't trust myself after a drink. I can sleep through him crying far too easily and I had a scare when my DD was 3 months where I woke up in a panic only to find her UNDER the covers struggling to breathe and that was me sober and not even sleep deprived.

I stick to the one per hour rule. I wait an hour after my last drink. If your concerned about being able to tell if your sober yet, buy a breathalyzer online :)

Same here, I struggle to stay awake as it is! Also applies to OH as well I think :flower:
