Im trying to decide which steriliser to buy .. Which would u say is best? Electric steriliser, or cold water? I dont really know alot about the whole thing! I do know cold water takes a little longer, but i can cope with that!
Also, daft question probably but can any sterilising tablets be used with any cold water steriliser? i.e, if i bought a boots steriliser, can i use mothercare tablets? lol sorry for dumbness :)x

for all 3 of my boys i have used an electric sterilizer. it was worth the money to me for sure and resets itself and runs again if it is plugged in and you still have bottles in it. i honestly don't think apart from that, it is any different than a microwave sterilizer. i actually have both and once i really read the directions and am very happy with our electric one. i even had an electric one 12yrs ago with my oldest and used until he was a yr old! not sure about the tablets. previously we had a gerber brand and this time around we have the avent one because it fits any size bottle.

We had a microwave one, and loved it. Electric ones work in pretty much the same way, but they are a bit harder to keep clean and there are bits that could potentially break... add that to being more expensive in the first place, and I'm happy to stick with microwave!

Personally I've never been a fan of cold water, it's a bit of a faff having to rinse things off with kettle water etc, and I'd always be worried I hadn't been thorough enough. If you were to go down that route you can use any brand of liquid/tablets with any steriliser, you just need to use the right amount of water for what you've put in.

You can use Milton in anything. Personally I prefer our steam sterliser, quicker, less mess and I don't haveto stand the smell of bleach which makes me gag.

We got a 24 hour avent steriliser and it is great. Easy to clean and operate, although read the instructions before baby comes because afterwards tiredness makes it harder to get your head around things! We switched from avent to dr brown's bottles and these fit in fine, we tried tommee tippee ones for a while but these don't fit in so well. Cold water sterilising seems a bit much effort when you can get a machine to do it for you! Search online, I got a bargain from life and looks but they don't seem to have the 24 hour steriliser at the moment.
