Ok I'm a bit ahead of myself here....I'm only 17 weeks pregnant with my second, but thought I'd start planning and making lists lol.

When ds was a baby, we used infacol religiously, as well as a bit of gripe water, but didn't find it much good, but found out he also had reflux and went onto gaviscon, which gave me a completely different baby! Lol

What are you ladies on here recommending for colic at the mo??

Depends on the baby I suppose! After trying all those Colief worked best for us (can get it on prescription if you ask the docs too)

Colic is really a catch-all term that can be caused by a number of ailments so it's hard to point to one specific product as a remedy. If your baby's fussiness is due to temporary lactase insufficiency then Colief should be effective, but that's not always the cause.

My colicky baby also had reflux and a ranitidine prescription was helpful for that, but as far as her general fussiness I found the Happiest Baby on the Block techniques to be most effective (white noise, movement, swaddling, etc). Belly massages + The Windi were very helpful when she was gassy and bloated. Gripe water did nothing for her.

As far as sleep goes, some moms swear by swings or bouncers for colic but my LO would only stay asleep in her rock'n'play sleeper. A lot of it is just trial and error, as you probably know!

I've already tried all three. Infacol didn't do anything, colief made her worst but dentinox has been brilliant. She can't use gripe water until next week but we probably won't give it a go unless dentinox somehow stops working.

It really depends what the problem is. Infacol/dentinox only really helps to bring trapped burps up. Gripe water relaxes the tummy making gas less painful and easier to expell. Colief only works for transient lactase deficiency so wont help with trapped wind paind/gripe.

So I guess you will just have to wait and see what troubles your baby will have. You can get infacol, colief and I think dentinox on prescription though so itll save you money if you wait till baby is born.

I used all of the above depending on what trouble my LO was having. I used colief as his symptoms were typical of TLD and it worked straight away whereas infacol/dentinox did nothing. I used Infacol anyway just to eliminate possible trapped burps and only use dentinox now after feeds because I ran out of infacol! Gripe water was amazing for when my LO was having really bad tummy spasms and gas pain when he was on normal formula.

I still use it now occasionally when he seems unsettled.

Thanks ladies all your info is fab.
I had an awful time with ds where he just literally screamed and screamed for 5/6 hours straight and I'm keen to prepare myself Incase it happens again lol

Dentinox works best for my LO. Tried infacol and gripe water and they didn't help him whatsoever.
