I wondered if anyone could help us.

FIL has extremely severe Parkinson's Disease, His movement is very bad (he can only mobilise with a wheelchair), his co-ordination is not the best at all and often has jerky movements.

The only 2 things he has left in his life he enjoys is watching TV and using the computer. The computer is becoming more difficult for him, we have slowed the mouse down to as slow as possible, we have increased the screen resolution as much as we can and this worked for the past year but he has trouble sometimes with a regular mouse and well the keyboard is a nightmare, he will aim for say the letter T and end up hitting the Y & U.

We have hunted high and low for a large keyboard (like they do the large button phones, calculators & remotes) but we can't find one anywhere, does anyone even know if they exist? and can anyone thing of a better solution to the mouse problems? is there a better style that would suit him?

We have considered getting him a ipad as we though the touch screen might help but we were disappointed in the size of them, they seem a little small for FIL

But anyone that does have a ipad, can you tell us ...... can you increase the size of the icons on the screen? how easy are they to use in reality? we need as simple as possible

Any help regarding anything for FIL & keeping him on the computer will be GREATLY recieved

A quick google has brought up these:

https://www.aidis.org/support/keyboard_a.php

I know someone who works on developing software for disabled users and know there is a growing market for developing products to make computing accessible. I think some more research in your area and you might find a charity or other group that supports disabled people with this sort of thing.
