contraception after LO is born and BF?

i have an allergy to latex so latex condoms aren't really an option and the latex free ones are just wayyyyyy too expensive for all the time ... me and OH get checked out regularly for STI's etc anyway and we haven't had a problem with being unfaithful so far ...

I was thinking about getting the patch, but i wondered what you ladies thought of it? Is it pretty good? Can you use it if you are BF? How long from starting to use it does it take effect? (is it similar to the pill in that in theory you're covered after a week but they still suggest that you're not properly covered til after the first month?

have you thought about the coil?? You can just leave it in for years and the copper one rather than the other one means you're not pumping yourself full of hormones.

i've thought about it, but i'd rather have something thats easier to stop using if it doesn't agree with me, i had to go through 5 different types of the pill before i found one that didn't make me feel really ill all the time, thats why i was looking at the patch, its easy to stop using it if it doesn't agree with me hehe.

I was on the patch foe 2 years before coming off it to TTC. I love it and will go straight back on it once finished BF. (my doc doesn't recommend it whilst BF due to hormones and potential to reduce milk supply)
