Hi guys im back! and i have now been all clued up about the bits that confused me, sarah, aka, blob, brought round her whole stash today and i am completely converted. I was gonna use disposables for new newborn till shes a bit bigger, however ive changed my mind, once the horrible nappies are out the way at first then i wanna still use re-useables from a few weeks, what i wanna know is, I am gonna buy 2 blueberrys, 2 mini lala's and 2 itti bittis till shes here and i can try them, all BTP, BUT as they will be a bit big on newborn i was thinking of getting some terry squares and just using them at first, then once i move onto the nappies i can cut them up for extra boosters and liners for the nappies.
But i really dont like the plasticy wrap for the outer bit of terry towling.. is theres a fleecy or bamboo alternative?? just for ontop of the terry's? and where can i get the nippa things?

Also, OT, but the thread about housecleaning products.. what was the components of the surface spray someone made?? water and vinegar? does it work...

Don't want to start an addiction in you (though I can already spot the signs )

But....

Wasn't there somewhere selling blueberry wraps for £8 right now? Was it jabula? I'll go look....

Can't find them! Founds a fleecy tots bots

Anyone else see them for £8?

Yeah you can use any wrap on top of a terry, the minky one's in babyshambelles link are lovely but I have seen them on sale somewhere! :dohh: or you can get fleece ones, or wool ones, they don't have to be plastic :D

Ta da!

k, that tots bots one says its quite bulky but thats what im attempting to avoid by using the terrys early on, I think i saw the wraps on that link but i just went straight to the minky BTP ones so i didnt read. I think i saw wraps for sale somewhere but i didnt look cos i hadnt come up with this plan! haha, How many wraps would i need.. would i really need one if im just in the house? can they wet right thru the terry to their clothes if i have no wrap?

Yeah if you don't have a wrap everything will be very wet....and pretty much most things look a bit bulky on a newborn! I think bamboo terries may be a bit less bulky than cotton?
I think I will be using disana tie ons when I have another baby for the first month or two, they are proper cheap, think they take a bit of tying practise, but terries do too!

https://www.kittykins.co.uk/cloth-nappies/type/8/brand/disana - bottom of the page

It looks really thin? how does it work.. do you put that ontop of something or something ontop of that?

You have a booster inside and they make wool wraps to go over the top, if you look in the wraps section on the same website they have them under disana.

I duno as I have one but haven't used it much, I know people who use them all the time and love them, I guess everything has it's good and bad points. Maybe bamboo terries would be better for you? Or maybe just stick with the cotton terries? Hm.

proably the cotton so it dries faster, i dont wanna buy too many as i wanna move onto the BTP nappies ill have, but the terries will just be a sort of stepping stone so theyre a little less bulky? then can re-use them as boosters afterwards. but u never know, the mini lala's are quite small so maybe they will be ok from early on.. guess i wont know till shes here and i try them. Ill buy a few terries and i guess ill just have to make do with the horrible plastic wraps for a month or so! :(

I would buy a few wraps if you want them cos even if they only get wet, you'd probably want to air them rather than using them again straight away, and you might have leaky poos to contend with!

What is it about the plastic pants that you don't like - the inside or the outside? I have some small wraps that I don't need if you want them - two are cotton on the outside (one with little strawberries, one with blue flowers on white) with PUL (plasticky stuff) on the inside and the other three are fleece on the outside (pink with little rosebuds) with PUL on the inside. I think they were about £5 each new and they've only been worn once. I was thinking maybe £2 each, including postage. If you want any photos let me know.

oh cool, would those wraps just go over a terry then? That would be good if you have a picture!
I just think, form when a friend used them that the plastic bit digs in their legs, and i dunno.. the feeling of them i guess? i mean if its a thing that would let me use re-useables straight away then i could deal with the wraps for a month or so till shes a bitty bigger for the BTP nappies, just not a huge fan of plastic in general lol

hey hun, i know princessellie makes wraps that are very cute and she'll be able to size them too if necessary :)

Also, she might not be a tiny tiny baby then you can use the btp ones pretty soon! :D

These are the wraps I have. I still think baby can feel a bit of plastic around the legs but it's not really nasty plastic, if you know what I mean? If you want to have a proper look at them, I can send you them and you can just send them back if you're not keen.

I have three of these:

And one each of these:

Also, I have one each of these, but they're both kind of plasticky on the outside too, though it's a kind of cotton-feeling plastic stuff, not sure what it is!

The top one is from www.tinyeco.com, the next two are from www.nappyelite.co.uk and I don't know where I got the other two, maybe ebay. Tinyeco and nappyelite have some beautiful wraps and they're not too expensive.

Also, she might not be a tiny tiny baby then you can use the btp ones pretty soon! :D

That's very true! I thought Leyla wouldn't be able to wear cloth for a while cos I only had a few tiny nappies... then she came along and was too big for some of them after only a few weeks!
