Convinced I'm pregnant but 2 negative tests?

Hi all,

So I'm new to Baby and Bump and posted a thread yesterday. I have been on Cerazette (the mini pill) for 4 years now and started to feel sick on Monday of this week which has persisted at the same time everyday so far. I feel bloated, exhausted and having headaches as well as a few other symptoms. Because I was feeling this way I came off the pill just to be safe on Tuesday night and have continued to feel the same.

I took a test on Tuesday night which was negative and then again this morning which was also negative.

What I want to know is if anyone has had negative test results when actually pregnant? And how far along were you when you found out? My trouble is as I have been on Cerazette my periods have been very irregular and light so I have no idea of my cycle plus my husband and I have an active sexual relationship so can't put my finger on when I may have conceived.

I might just keep taking tests if I feel the same next week as may be testing too early in my cycle for it to show up.

Also want to avoid going to the doctors until I have had positive tests.

Hi amylou. The HPG's won't read + until your pregnancy hormones has reached a certain level. It takes about 2 weeks from conception before a test will pick it up. So, maybe it's just too early for you to test. Just keep trying.

Did another test yesterday and was negative but going to wait for Friday before I test again. Still feeling all of the symptoms and felt soooooo sick this morning!

Hi Amy,

I can relate to what you are going through. My cycles are usually 27 to 30 days long (one was 32 days a few months ago). Today is day 33 and I have been testing for over a week (including today) and all tests are still coming up negative. I am really frustrated because I've had a lot of symptoms over the last couple of weeks (symptoms I couldn't have imagined because I had to look them up to see that they are signs of pregnancy). I don't want to talk to my doc just yet either because I don't know what to say - I can't say that I think I am pregnant (because I've never been pregnant before, so I have no proper reference point), but I also don't want to overreact and ask for a blood test too early and then REALLY get disappointed.

I don't know what to think. My period is late, I have symptoms, and the tests still come up negative.

I am really frustrated...last night I was crying and I felt so emotionally overwhelmed, but then that may be because of the anticipation and the buildup during the tww.

Hold in there and let us know what is happening. I'll do the same. It really helps to know there are people that can relate and that are in the same boat as you.

It is great to hear that someone is going through the same thing. I agree its almost scary as you dont want to go to the docts when you've not had a positive test! Some days I think I'm kidding myself that I am and other days I'm convinced as what else can it be?

All i can say is just keep testing every couple of days?! I can see how hard it must be for you though as we we'rnt planning on having a baby so would be a huge shock if we are as we would've fallen preg on the pill.

The hardest thing is just not knowing!

What are your symptoms and when did you last take a test? x

I had the same symptoms for 10 days, was so exhausted and have never spent so much time in my bed as I did these few days. I really did think I was pregnant finally, hopes were at the highest when my AF was 3 days late. It got me yesterday

Hey Amy,

It's funny that you say you weren't trying...we just stopped using contraception this month and weren't really TRYING trying. Still, once I started having symptoms, I realized that I really want it to happen.

I had some kind of spotting 7 days after ovulation, LOTS of cm, cramping for 8 days (2 before the spotting and then another 6, maybe even 7 after), lower back pain, higher temp, nose bleeds, swollen bbs, bloating, constipation, very VERY tired, emotional (but again, that might be because of all the other stuff), and i guess the missed period.

I don't know what to think. I have tested a bunch of times and all tests are negative. I have decided that I am going to wait until next Monday... I will NOT test until then (fingers crossed). If AF doesn't show up and I get a negative test again, I will def go to the doc's and ask for a blood test. If that comes back negative, I will go crazy

You said you are not trying...do you still want a baby or not? What symptoms are you having?

Well it def sounds like you have all of the symptoms. I know that waiting to take your test is hard, its the not knowing that makes it worse! We'll wait together as I'm hanging on till Friday.

I'm exactly the same, now I'm feeling the symptoms and I'm thinking about it I feel ready... I really didn't before. Maybe this is my body's way of telling me I don't know...

I think if your tests are still neg and AF hasn't arrived then go to the doctors for sure, you're feeling what you're feeling for a reason so either way a trip to your GP wont hurt.

I'm just really hoping I am preg as there is something really wrong if not... never felt like this before! My symptoms are, nausea (on and off for the past 10 days, worst today), very tired, headaches, emotional, I think I had some light spotting, discharge (ew sorry TMI) bloating, wind and seem to have gone off eggs which I normally love! My best friend even asked me if I was coz she could see something different about me!!! So weird...

We just have to be strong and accept either way. I think its always hard too when its your first, as you said you have nothing to compare it to!

Hang on till Monday but let me know how you're feeling in the meantime and if AF arrives. I hope not though!

I'm off to sleep now... goodness knows my body needs it!

Amy, I didn't mention the gas because it's been bad and embarrassing. I said to my husband, if I am not pregnant, then there is something seriously wrong with my intestines.

It's funny that you say that this experience made you realize that you want a baby. I've always wanted a baby (ALWAYS), but it was a mental desire. After these experiences, I realize that there is a bodily craving that is really strong and that I REALLY want a baby, in every sense of the word.

The other thing that's interesting is that we've both been married for almost the same amount of time. What made you wait all this time?

I hope you have a good night and I hope AF doesn't show her face...for 9 months

Feeling mush better today, just tired and no AF yet!

There are a few reasons why we wanted to wait before trying, mainly because we are young! I'm 23 and hubby is 26 so we got married when I had just turned 20(we're a young christian couple, hence the early marriage!). Also we've been through a lot since we were married my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away at the age of 44 on 2nd May 2010, then 7 months later at Christmas by 15 year old brother was diagnosed with cancer also so we had months of him going through treatment etc. He is doing really well now and the doctors reckon he's beaten it!!!! soooo proud of him!

So yeah we were kinda enjoying life being quiet and calm for a bit but to be honest if this is God's plan I'm happy to go with it. I really am wanting a little one now. Some of my closest friends have all had babies in the past year and watching them made me think 'I'm soooo not ready for that!!!' But I really think we are now, we have a strong marriage, money is fine and it feels right so if I'm not preg we may start TTC!

AmyLou I'm sorry to hear about your dad, and may GOD give strength to you all, and restore your brothers health.

I hope both of you really are pregnant, because those symptoms really put you on a high and then drop you really hard when you get your AF. It's happened to me this month, so I know exactly how I felt and feel. In the 12 years of TTC, this has happened twice, one last june and this month, after like hours of reading about what I was going through, I feel like I have had 2 chemicals but cannot confirm them as I'm too coward to take the test before my AF

I am, according to my gyne, 17dpo but every test i do is negative!!! its so frustrating!! I was diagnosed with Endometriosis back last year and have since had 2 laparoscopys and 6 months of zoladex to stop my cycles and unblock my tubes (they were completely block). My last laparoscopy was in Jan this year and I was told my tubes were completely clear now and so my finance and i decided to TTC immediately (which we literally did - not as fun with two sets of stitches lol). At the same time as my op i had the coil removed (another treatment helped to treat the Endo).

I had an internal ultasound at CD10 and a follicle 17.5mm was present on my left ovary. Dr said i would OV on the CD13 (sun 5th of Feb) and today is CD 30 and still no AF! His prediction would have made my cycle 27 days. its never been that. usually it is 31 (which will be tomorrow) and recently cos of treatment etc they have been 40, 39 and 38. im so confused.

anyways I wasnt symptom spotting until 14dpo spotted and these are my symptoms (some i DID notice before 14dpo but i ignored)

tender breasts - started about 4 days ago but calmed down today
very mild cramping - i dont get AF cramps until the day it shows
my nipples are larger, the outside a little darker and the tip of the nipple has small white bumps
breasts feel full and heavier
CM is cloud lotion like and cervix is medium high ( on occasions it has been low - yesterday evening)
15dpo i have a horrible metal taste in my mouth like i was sucking nuts and bolts. I also had lots of saliva that day. I couldnt make the whole sentance before swallowing.
for the last 2 weeks i have been SO tired. at the weekends sleeping between 12 and 14 hours!

I wish it would be BNP or AF would just come NOW lol

Treetop welcome Looks like you've got all the symptoms of a pregnancy, I suggest you go for a blood test and see what that shows I also suffer with endo and know how it's to concieve with it. Best of luck and keep us update

Hi treetop! Thanks for joining our little conversation Its always great to feel like you're not alone.

Sorry to hear about the endo, it sounds like you've been on a rough journey with it all. I agree with summer pearl though about the blood test and those symptoms really do sound hopeful (sounds just like me) esp as AF hasn't arrived. Is it possible also that your dr calculted your OV dates incorrectly? That might be why nothing is showing up on the preg test?

Keep us informed though, we're all in this together.

Yes I did wonder about the ov date. I read that follicles grow between 1 & 2 mm per day so that means according to that I ov between Sunday and wednesday (2 weeks today). I just feel a bit lost in this!

When will you test??? When was af due??

I've not had any experience myself but have seen woman who have had the result they wished for

I've had 3 laps, the last one being an emergency for a ruptured chocolate cyst and the removal of my right ovary and tube, I've also had a hystroscopy (polyp on womb) which came back normal.
