Cot bumpers

I use them on my crib (and have one for the cotbed). I have no concerns, I've looked at the advice on

https://fsid.org.uk/Page.aspx?pid=191

So I'm happy to use them.x.

ive had to put them on since we put him into a sleeping bag and stopped swaddling else he flings his arms out and gets them inbetween the rails of the cradle and we will put them onto his cot when we put him into it once we move so that he feels secure and also will stop him watching his brother instead of sleeping lol

I used them from around 6 months I think..Dont see they make any diff tbh!! xx

I have one but since LO is feet to foot in the cot he is nowhere near it. I personally just think it looks nice xx

I do... but i think its a total waste of money lol. But being first baby we got absolutely everything, makes the room look nice tho!

i use one otherwise she'd be hitting her head on th wood when shes thrashing about in the night! (she sleeps at the top). never had a problem, its tied to the bars and ive tucked it in round the matress a bit and shes never moved it.

dont use them, never will. they have been linked to SIDS!

NuKe, The FSID (foundation for the study of infant death) say they have no positive or negative affects.

We had them on the cot until Ruby could pull herself to sitting from lying down, as that's what it says on the packet of the ones we got...

I think they look nice plus mines is kinda tucked in around the mattress and stops Charlie banging his head on the wooden bars. There's also a little pocket in it which is great for keeping a couple of dummies in :) I've had no problems with them at all :)

i havent used them waste of money and i've heard of babies geting their heads stuck under them
i used a door draught to protect rhys's head a row of 6 hedgehogs holding hands :)
perfect for stopping him bump his head on the top of the headboard nd safe.

Must depend on how your baby sleeps if they can get their heads caught under them? This has never happened with us and Charlie's always had one - it's tucked in though.. I do like those draught excluders too - very nice :)

rhys behaved perfectly in his cot but he turned 15 months and he started ragging everything around lol, so everyting apart for his toddler quilt came out..
but he doesnt touch his cot mobile for some reason and at 19 months still makes me wind it up at bedtime :dohh:

i used a bumper with my daughter 15 yrs ago no problem but the midwife and antenatal class warned us harshly of the danger they could be so it put me off. she gave me the link for the draught excluders i looked at her strange when she told me lol but look lovely.

Bought one today with new cot, just assumed that everyone used one.
I thought maybe they kept the draughts out and make the cot look nice.
Bl**dy expensive for what they are though ! Some of the Mothercare ones were £50!! I could buy a cheap cot for that :D

We got airwrap bumpers for Ellie, since a few weeks ago since her foot brace makes a lot of noise on the bars and wakes her up. That and she got it stuck one night! They're not as pretty, but they're useful.

Alisha1985, SIDS is sudden infant death syndrome, aka cot death.

We use one  My LO likes to move upwards in her cot, so to prevent her hitting her head on the bars, I choose to us e abumper. In my mind, the risk of her bashing her head all the time is far higher than the risk of lack of circulation. And it's only a half bumper; it's not all around the cot.

they wouldn't sell them if they weren't okay to use IMO

i put it on my baby cot, don't know why lol but it looks nice x

i think it depends on the type of bumper. the US ones are more likely to go all around the cot and apparently it reduces air flow. most UK bumpers only do the top half of the cot so i can see those one's not being so bad...

baby sleeps at the bottom of the cot anyways so the airflow would be just fine there...
