Doc tried to find the heartbeat with the Doppler today so I could hear(I saw it 2 weeks ago in the ultrasound) but she couldn't find it. She told me not to panic and I have to go back in 2 weeks to try again? Anyone else experience this? How do I not fret for two weeks?!? She said it's normal to not always hear it at 11 weeks.

Easier said than done for sure, don't fret. Position, activity, mama's weight, placenta position. By 13-14 weeks your odds will be greatly improved :)

I had the same problem around 12 weeks. Doppler could not find a heartbeat. My doctor pulled in an ultrasound machine to do a quick check and baby was ok. I had an appointment at 15+3 and the doctor had no trouble finding the heartbeat with the doppler. I am sure everything is ok :)

That same thing happened to me today. I am 10 weeks 4 days, and my Dr. couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler-she did warn me before that it may be too early to hear the hearbeat. Then she pulled out the ultrasound and since my bladder was basically empty she said she couldn't even see my uterus since I hadn't had any water. At 8 weeks I had an ultrasound and the heart rate was 163 bpm. I am going in this Friday for a reassurance ultrasound with her, with a full bladder, to make sure everything is ok. I wish she didn't even try to find the heart beat today, it would have saved me a lot of tears and stress!
I'll let you know how things turn out. Sending big hugs to you-you are not alone!

With dd i heard it on aa doppler at 8 weeks aaand recorded it, with this one we could barely get it at 15 weeks didnt start consistantly getting it until 25 weeks.. he hides from it and im sure their are more sensitive dopplers in some offices.. when we didnt get his hb at 11 weeks this time i demanded an u/s all is well!

Both my wife and I did not face such problem at week 11. However, I think it all depends on individual. Just like what babymamaagain said, try it again in your week 13-14.

I remember I was much later on than you and the mw couldn't find the hb so I was sent for a scan and everything was fine! I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Try not to worry too much (easier said than done, I know). I remember the midwife having trouble finding Eleanor's heartbeat when she was at about 16 weeks ago as the little monkey kept hiding - later on she'd kick the doppler whenever the midwife tried to find the heartbeat.

Totally normal - my mw doesnt do HB with a doppler until 16 weeks for thsi very reason. Try not to worry x

I could find it but boy did it wriggle away from it. They move so much now that it can be really difficult. My mw wont try until 25 weeks because it can be so difficult. xx

I think the worst part is that she did noting else. Other than listen for 90 seconds and then just say, "Nope, I'll bring you back in two weeks". Which should make me feel better that she isn;t very concerned but still, I AM!!! This is my first baby and it stresses me the hell out! She may have done this 12 times in one day but I didn't. I did it once and it scared me. I'm not scheduled for another ultrasoound until 18-20 weeks and I just have to sit here and wait for 2 more weeks to know if my baby is ok.

maybe try renting a doppler? the only problem is it would cause you more worry if you , yourself also can't find the heartbeat.

My Dr doesn't even try till 16 weeks for this very reason. It worries you unnecessarily as they're still teeny tiny and hard to get a hold of before then.
I bought an angelsounds Doppler but didn't use it till 14 weeks.

My OB doesn't attempt till 16 weeks. I am a very thin person and he couldn't find my little ones heartbeat last pregnancy at 16 weeks. I am fortunate he has a bedside ultrasound machine and we could check in on things..... Sorry u are stressing.

where i am midwifes wont even attempt to find hb with a doppler till you are 16 weeks xx

Ok after not hearing the hb on Doppler yesterday, I ended up going in for a reassurance ultrasound today (as I called and they were able to squeeze me in today instead of Friday)and there was little bean with a beating heart. Chances are your baby's heart is perfect and beating away also. Can you call to try to get an earlier appointment, for reassurance?

I don't think I can. MY OB was not worried at all and said that bringing me back at 13 weeks would be btter because there is a much greater chance of hearing the heartbeat then. I'm assuming that if she still can't find it at 13 weeks then she will send me for a scan. It's juts the waiting you know?? I pray the 23rd gets here fast!!!

My 5 year old scared me like that. They sent me for a scan and the twerp was hiding behind my pubic bone. LOL, I would request a scan to make sure, which most doctors would do anyways, if they couldn't locate it with a doppler.

I know, the waiting is so hard. The 23rd will be here soon. Try to keep busy and focus on the facts that it can be hard to find a hb this early with a doppler. Hugs to you, I hope you're doing ok:)

I went to my OB at around 12 weeks because I was having a fit of nausea that wouldn't quit. She said, "Ok, you're 12 weeks? We won't try the Doppler today, I don't want you to get upset if we don't find it and we often can't at 12." I came back at 13 and we did try and heard it just fine. I know this must be a difficult wait, but I think the fact that my doc wouldn't even attempt it at 12 means it would be even more common not to hear it at 11? Best wishes to you and your baby!
