Thought I'd share with you a current work in progress (started it about a year ago). It's taking a long time but someday I will finish it. It's a design by Heaven and Earth designs which personally think have the best cross stitch designs out there. However, they are massive in scale as they are all cross stitch pretty much without any white areas. I love them though because it's all full stitches not any half or quarter stitches. They are done using mostly fabrics 1 over 1 on 25 ct or higher.

Just wanted to add everyone's work is gorgeous!! Thank you so much for sharing!

Wow, meldmac, you're really neat! A perfect un-sewn square! Mine's always really bitty as I work large areas in single colours. I think I cross-stitch how I embroider. It's looks really anime-style.

With Heaven and earth designs it's almost impossible to do cross country stitching with these charts since some of them use 120 colors. Sometimes you change colors 80-90 times in a 10 x 10 square. Some people find grafting their fabric helps but I prefer to just work in a 10 x 10 square as it is easier to keep track of where you are. I normally do what you do with normal cross stitches but these are so much more detailed than any others I've seen.

Hmm, I never considered doing 10X10 squares with cross-stitching...... I just pick out a bit I wanna do and do it! I've been using the same colour green for a while now... Haven't really picked up the cross-stitch recently though!!

I'm making another rosary, just listed a couple of things on my etsy account too. :)

I normally don't do 10 x 10 squares with most normal cross stitches it's only Heaven and earth designs I do it with.

Take a look at their website, their designs are truly amazing. One of the designs I'm working on is 30 pages long. I've only done about 5 pages in about a year. That gives you an idea of the scale of their designs. They are quite daunting but truly look amazing when they are finished. They actually don't look like a cross stitch at all but almost like a painting when finished.

The one I"m attaching is called Invariance and when it's finished it will look like this, I've done this one on 28 ct over one using tent stitching which is so much faster than doing a full cross stitch but on that small a fabric you can hardly tell.

Here's a link to a finished piece which is stunning:

Here are a couple of pics of my current piece of embroidery. Sorry my flash gun batteries have gone so had to use the crap built in flash so it looks a bit flat and rubbish. Looks much nicer in person!

sorry to thread crash  I used to do loads of scrapbooking but don't have much time any more. Anyways I'm trying to pick it back up and want to do a book for Hannah. I've done a few pages already but I want to put a foil balloon (deflated) that we received when she was born in her book. Any ideas for how to put it on a page and have it look good?

    Wow mizzk, they look fab!!

Vickie - depending on the balloon itself (if there's an image/you want to keep it intact) I'd consider cutting it up and making a collage sort of thing, or using the bits to make a frame for a new born pic, something like that...for an interesting idea. Of course if you want to keep it intact maybe making it a centrepiece and sticking stuff around the edge/on top of it to make it all fit together - like pictures, bows, cards etc etc??

Vickie, I don't do much scrapbooking, so am not an expert at it... but..

Is the foil balloon large? As in bigger than the pages of the book?

We're having a fundraising day at our baby group next week. Raising money for the Marine Conservation Society so I've taken a break from my parents' present and whipped up these cards to sell.

Back to the grindstone with the big embroidery piece now though.

I've posted this in the embroidery group also, but thought I'd post here too incase any of you lovely ladies have any extra tips?

I need some help... I've made a sock monkey for my cousin, but I need to embroider the eyes on and it's already all sewn up... I've tried once before with a sock monkey I made for my brother, but it went horribly wrong and I ended up having to cover up holes I made while trying to make the eyes! :dohh:

Any tips? How do I hide the knots etc without being able to get 'inside' the monkey? Any videos you could recommend showing how to do this?

    xx
