so if i choose to not breastfeed....what we will happen to my boobs?

how this work ? does the milk stop on his own ? how long does it take to not produce milk ? i heard people said it is painful ...how bad is it for how long ?

thanks ladies!

It hurts a lot for about a week. Then your milk supply starts to reduce. I leaked for 4 weeks after caitlyn. I didn't really do anything either, to reduce the pain of engorgement. But it really does hurt. Or should i say, it hurt me, no one really warned me that it would happen and it was a shock!

thanks! i thought we were suppose to take meds to stop the milk ...:dohh:

Maybe? But they don't give them out in the UK unless you've lost your child. Otherwise, you're expected to breast feed to help engorgement

They don't give them here either. It was really painful for about a week and than it slowly got better. I used ice packs to help with the engorgement.

Mine were just really tender for about 4 days and achy for 2 of these but not too bad ....but i had really small leaks every now and again so i wore breast pads for a week .

I did breastfeed the first few weeks, well combination feeding, I got engorged anyway, but it only lasted 2 days... After that when I stopped breastfeeding it just dried up, I didnt engorge again;

day 3&4 post birth were uncomfortable for me.... after that i had a few weeks of slight leakage at random times. wasn't VERY painful though!

I decided to stop BF on Thursday. Thursday night I started Emma on bottles and stopped BF completely - didn't express or anything. Yesterday my boobs hurt and were rock solid, lol. I had to sleep with a towel wrapped around me last night as I was leaking so much! Today is miles better and unless I touch them I'm not in any pain - they still feel hard but nothing like yesterday.

Emma is almost 3 weeks old and I was BF exclusively since she was born.

Hope this helps!!

I breastfed for 2 weeks, and it took about 4 days for it to stop hurting.

My milk came in was LO was 14 days old (yes I said 14) and they were still leaking and rock hard when she was 8 weeks. It was horrible. And it hurt.

My milk came in when my son was 4 days old. I dont remember it hurting but I do remember leaking a lot. I wore breast pads for about 3 weeks. My mom told me to wrap my boobs in ace wrap and wear a snug sports bra. So that is what I did. I am not sure that that part did anything but I did it anyway.

My milk didn't really come in (that I'm aware of anyway) - I didn't have any leaking, pain, engorgement

My MIL said hers were so painful she had to wrap tensor bandages around her chest for the first week.

mine have been sore since about the 3rd day and are still sore now...taken painkillers but to no effect really:nope:

Thought that i had got away with the leaking as i have been wearing breast pads just incase but had no leaks,so i stopped using them....up until yday evening when OH said to me...

'Connah's drooled on your top....Oh hes done it on the other side too! how wierd is that?its in the same place and everything!':dohh::dohh::dohh:

Then i realised what he was on about and ran to fetch the breast pads!

My boobs were soo sore when th milk came in. But my mw advised to wear a very tight bra at all times even night and to use cabbage leaves that were left in the fridge for a while in the bra when boobs really started hurting. Have to say it did help alot. x
