Ok, so AF got me a few days ago and DH and I are back to square 1:cry:

I believe I am going to actually chart my temps this month but I really dont know how and if I did I am at a loss as to how to read the charts :( Do I start in the morning? AF is still here and I am assuming that the first day of AF bleeding is day 1 of your cycle. If this is true I am at CD 4 today.

Last cycle was the first month I actually ovulated since the MC in May so technically this is only cycle #4 TTC.

I also think when I pick up my dig therm. at the store this afternoon I should get a few OPKs to make sure that we get it just right.

Please dont R&R I need a little TTC advice :( Thanks! :hugs:

FF has a quick and free 25 minute course that will explain temping to you better than I could. I would recommend reading it and then asking your questions.

I am not trying to blow you off...I found the course very helpful.

But yes, you will want to take your temp at the same time every morning, before getting out of bed.

CD1 is the first day of a bleed, not spotting. :hugs:

OPKs tell you are getting ready to OV and temping confirms, but will not tell you until after the fact.

I came across the book Taking Charge of your Fertility at a used book store, and found it VERY helpful when I started temping! this is the first cycle I've done it. It goes into detail about the specifics and how to check your cervial mucus and position too. I'm still pretty new to it, but basically you want to temp as soon as you wake up in the morning, before you even get out of bed. I keep my thermometer ( bought a basil body temp one for about seven bucks) right by my bed with my chart. Fertilityfriend.com is a site you can track your temps on, I photocopied the blank chart from the back of the book :) You want to do it the same time every day, or as close to it as you can. After you ovulate your temp should rise a bit, and stay up until AF..or just stay up if you've gotten pregnant! Good luck!

I'll explain how charting works hun.

What you do: What you do is your take your temperature at the same time every single morning with a basal body thermometer (can get them at drugstores/online). It's very important to take it at the same time each morning because 30 minutes can sometimes make a .1 difference which is crucial in temping. There are BBT converters online for those days you wake up late/early. You plug in your temps, CM, etc into fertilityfriend.com everyday.

How it works: From the first day of your period, to ovulation, the hormone estrogen is the dominant hormone, which is the "cool" one. It causes your temps to be lower. From the day after ovulation until your next period, progesterone takes over, which is the "warm" one. Once ovulation occurs, your temperature will rise at least .4 degrees and stay up until your next period (or right before). After 3 high temps, FF will give you crosshairs. That is ovulation day. From ovulation to your next period is what's called a luteal phase (LP). The average is 14 days. Anywhere between 10-17 is normal. If it's anything less than 10 it will be difficult to sustain a pregnancy, but there are supplements to help with that. Your LP is basically always the same each cycle, but it may vary a day or two sometimes.

Keep in mind that charting BBT does not predict ovulation, however some women get what's called an "ovulation dip" where your temp dips on ovulation day. It can only confirm ovulation. Using BBT and OPKs together is the best way to predict and confirm ovulation. I get my opks from www.early-pregnancy-tests.com like a lot of women on here do. They have great (and cheap) conception packs and free first class shipping if you spend over $15 (which is very fast and discreet packaging).

Hope I helped hun! If you have any questions don't be afraid to PM me!! You can check out my charts in my sig if you'd like some examples. FF also has a chart gallery if you'd like to see more :hugs:

Also make sure you get a basal body thermometer! The others will not work because they are not near as sensitive. xx

I bought mega cheap opks from amazon (one-step tests) and found them fantastic.

OPks are supposed to get a line when you are near ovulation - the line is supposed to be just as dark as the control line but mine never got like that - a line is a line...

When I got my +opk it would indicate I would ovulate within the next 2 days (temp rise would confirm it 3 days later with a rise)

I just used a standard digital thermometer....

Oh, and sex leading up to ovulation, and on the day of ovulation is what has worked for us, dont wait til you ovulate - best if sperms are there for when the egg arrives:flower:

WOW Taylorxx!!! Thanks a bunch!! I am mainly charting because I believe I know when I O, but I just want to make sure that I do. I am going to order some OPKs today (that’s for the tip on that). Do soon do you take them leading up to your expected O day?

DH and I usually have sex every other day anyway (if not everyday). He doesn’t deposit EVERY time, but always around the time of O for sure. I might have missed it last month because I was at work when it peaked and didn’t get to DTD till later that night and we kind-of slacked off prior to that. We are not making that mistake this time…which is why I am going to do everything I can to not miss it

I am CD5 today of a 29 day cycle and my LP is 12 days. FF said I should O between 08/09 – 08/13.

Thank you sooooo much!!

No problem :) If you have a 29 day cycle I'd start using OPKs around CD8-9. BD on the days leading up to a positive and especially the days of the positive(s). You may be a fade-into positive opk kind of girl, or you may get really faint lines and then a bam positive so don't worry if they aren't getting darker. I'm like the latter and still every cycle I get worried I'm not going to ovulate and then I get my positive out of nowhere lol. Good luck hun, lots of baby dust! :hugs:

Thanks again!! I am so new to all of this stuff. I mean I have been TTC since feb but never really charted temps or took opks

Where are you in your cycle?

I'm 5dpo on CD21! Very excited to be normal again lol. I've been TTC since feb too but I started charting right away and using OPKs the next cycle. I went a little nuts after my first mc in Feb lol. :haha:

awww I am sorry for your loss. thats where I am at. this is my 2nd month ttc since my m/c in may and dh and I were pretty lazy about it last month...but not this time :)

ooooo how exciting, how do you feel?

just wanted to say that TAYLORXX ROCKS :happydance::happydance:=D>=D>=D>=D>=D>\\:D/\\:D/\\:D/\\:D/

:wohoo::wohoo:=D>=D>:wohoo::wohoo:

She is just so "informative" ... I always learn something from her ... :hugs:

I have actually been temping this month from CD1 .. I am now CD4 of 33 day cycle ... I use the basal thermometer and chart everything on FF. I will also use opks and im using clomid as well. I have been taking my temp in my .. "unmentionables" lol ..

Aw you guys are so sweet! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: I spent WAYYYY too much time researching and on BNB after my first chemical back in February so I picked up a lot of information. I'm STILL learning new things, theres so much to TTC and how our body works it's insane. Some many women have helped me on here so I like to return the favor and help other women too. I want to see as many bfps as possible! :) Thank you guys so much for your kind words, I appreciate it :hugs:
