D/Regging for 3 weeks???!!!

Hey girls,
i was hoping to find someone with a little more knowledge on this particular subject as i am non the wiser since this is my first IVF cycle-Basically, i started the d'regging drugs 14 days ago, with my period arriving arriving yesterday/last night,........my concern is that having called the clinic to inform them, we won't be having an ultra sound until next tuesday,.......which means i will have been d'regging for 3 weeks,........is this normal?

My IVF cyle is really unique. However downregulating for long periods is fine. Ive been downregging for 4 months now. So dont worry it wont do you any harm. I think its unwise for long periods like mine if you dont respond quite well to stimm drugs or your a older lady ie in your 40s.

They are prob asking you to down reg further to start you stimming on a particular day of your cycle, ie 21st day, day 7 or even the 1st day.

crumbs, i didn't realise you could d'reg for so long!!!-I really do hope they have you d'regged soon.My sister also had major probs d'regging years ago when she had an ivf cycle,so it must be tough, i really take my hat off to you.
Does this mean that the date i was initially given for egg collection will also be delayed by another week?-Am a little concerned now as my DH is due to fly out 3 days after what would have been EC day........this is turning into a real headache at the mo, we are waiting for the clinic to call back.

Im downreging for other reasons, control my endo. But its the same thing. I would say it would delay it. There is like a set number of days you have to be stimmed, can range for 10 -14 days. I am no expert, just what i have read and experienced. Im sure your clinic will give u an answer.

But again, nothing about IVF can go to plan, the days can vary all depending on how well your responding.

Hi Hun

I am currently DR at the mo for my second cycle of IVF.

My clinic use the DR to make sure that your potential scan dates and EC / ET dates fall into their calendar. SO basically they let you go as long as they want to manipulate you adn 'fit you in' to their schedule.

Last time I DR'd for 15 days until my scan - adn then they left me Down reggin for another 3 days so that I would fit in with thier schedule adn my scan and EC would not fall over a weekend. This time aroudn I am DR for 16 days till my scan - and god knows how long after that!!

Its all in their hands which is frustratign for you hun - hope it all works out dates wise (and BFP wise!!).

I down regged for 16 days before stimming for my first cycle and 23 days for my second. God knows how long i'll be stimming for this coming cycle, all i know is it starts this sunday

Agree with the others. I d'regged for 5 weeks cos they couldn't offer us EC the week we should have had it. They should have a pretty clear idea of when they'll be doing ec/et, did they not give you a list of your different appointments? If not, I'd def ask.

we have now spoken with the clinic, and my u/s will be nxt week,so,i will be d'regging for atleast 21 days, meaning that EC will be put back a week-They explained that because my AF came a little late, they have to wait 7 days to scan me in order to determine if the lining of my uterus has thinned down enough to start on the stimms.............this ivf thing is alot more complicated than i initially thought!!-The good news however, is that my DH has managed to squeeze another week out of his boss to make sure he is around for EC,but we have decided that if i take longer than 3 weeks to d'regg, we are just going to have to freeze a sample.
