I have a natural tendency toward vasovagal symptoms and being pregnant has made it so much worse. If I were staying at home it wouldn't matter too much but I'm currently doing surgical oncology which means hours of standing with a gown and mask on under bright lights. At best I can make it through an hour before I feel too sick and have to scrub out (usually it's more like 15-30 minutes). Everyone is nice about it but it's still embarrassing to have to leave two or three times during each case when everyone else is able to stand through the whole thing. I wear compression stockings, eat lots of protein before going to the OR, do counter-pressure maneuvers when I start feeling ill, etc. None of this fixes the problem, though it does help a little.
Anyone else struggling? I wish I could just stay at home and gestate like I did last time
