December Babies 2013 :)

Congrats Zoe... Any tips u have on juggling kids greatly appreciated!!

Just don't try and be supermom!

If the house is a mess it doesn't matter!
If your late for everything it doesn't matter!
If you look like crap it doesn't matter!

As long as your kiddies are happy and healthy, the rest is unimportant

That's the only advice I've got. I hold my baby girl as much as I can she's not a baby for long so I'm making the most of it!

Although she's soo clingy now, we co sleep as it's the only way I would get to sleep.

We still have no routine though she's bottle fed and we just seem to top up all the time, is this still normal at 4weeks? Xx

Thought id add a photo of the tribe

Hi everyone!

I'm Clair, mummy to a 19 month old boy, Jason and an 11 day old girl, Lily who arrived on 21st December weighing 7lb 1oz after a well deserved perfect labour! :) (I had a rough time with our first!)

Lily is fab and constantly sleeps, she sleeps fab at night too, last night we got 3am-9.30am  Jason loves her too and we all seem settled but I'm expecting chaos to hit very soon :haha:

welcome all you lovely ladies :)
i will get round to replying properly later and getting to know you all a little better and i'll also update the first post at some point..
going to dig the laptop out later, reply to you all, sort that post out and eventually get round to my birth story.. i dont know whether to give all the background info or just basics, it be super long if i do it all lol xx

Hello everyone, can I join? I'm typing one handed as feeding. I'm laura mummy to Joseph who was 2 in September and Nicholas born on Boxing Day!
Lovely hearing all about your new arrivals

Coming in a little late but I'm here.

My name is Nina, I'm 31 and I have a 4 year old special needs son named Holden and now a little girl named Calliope Rose. Calli was born December 13th via repeat c-section due to high blood pressure and her having a dipping heart rate. Turns out it was a good idea to have chosen the section instead of trying for the vbac I had originally wanted as she had a knot in her cord and labouring might have killed her.

When Calli was born she had low blood sugar due to my diabetes and also an elevated white blood cell count so she ended up staying in the NICU for monitoring and a strong 7 day course of antibiotics. It was rough as there were several days that I couldn't hold her and they had her on a high cal diet so I couldn't BF her. She stayed in NICU for 8 days and we are just now starting to switch back over from bottled breast milk to breast feeding during the day. Right now she wants to cluster feed so thinking it's a growth spurt.

Due to my special needs son and other indications, Calliope is undergoing genetic testing and we have our first meeting with a genetic councillor coming up Jan 9th to go over the results of a genetic micro array test done during her NICU stay.

Can I join too?

I'm Loui, mummy to Danny aged 2 and 5 months and Holly who is 4 weeks old today :cloud9:

Definitely find being a mum of 2 to be a massive shift but every day we're getting closer to that elusive routine..............

How lovely to see so many familiar names and that we now all have our babies! Sounds like a few of us are going to be learning to juggle more than one child so hopefully we can share tips... Although Zoe I think u have it right...I think as long as I make it to the end if each day with us all in one piece we have succeeded!!!

I think a routine only appears in the majority if babies around 12 weeks.

Hiya! Can I join? Been looking at baby club but everyone's babies seem so much older!

Had my baby boy on Christmas Day :) can't believe he's a week old already!

Happy new year!
My little boy is 2 weeks now. I remember ruby predicted i would give birth and bam, a few hrs later i gave birth lol
Im loving motherhood though
My LO is 10 pounds now, eating 4 ounces of expressed breastmilk ! And then breastfed alittle an hr later between feedings. Hes such a big boy. I would have starved him if i listened to the hospital telling me to feed 2 ounces every 3 hrs.

My daughter is just shy of 8lbs and gets 3.5 oz every 2 - 3 hours and is 2+5 so I don't think 4 oz is too much.

Happy new year ladies!!

I'm Hayley, and my baby boy Cole was born on 12/12/13. I was induced following a rough pregnancy and 4 APH's which turned out to be placental abruption, but thankfully we have a healthy little boy. As he was 2 weeks early, we were initially discharged but had to return to NICU for phototherapy as Cole was seriously jaundiced. He's home and doing well now, with the exception of a blocked nose and will be 3 weeks tomorrow.

I'm so jealous of all you getting a good few hours sleep at night, he's such a content baby during the day but come night time he's up every 3 - 4 hours like clockwork and I struggle to get him to settle. I've heard the first 6 weeks are the hardest, but I'm shattered and my OH is going back to work next week!!

It's mad that we can now say our babies were born last year!!

Just noticed this thread :)

I'm Louise I'm 25 I have an 18month old daughter Ciara and gave birth to my beautiful boy on the 30th December he was 6 days late and weighed 8lb 2oz so far he's been a very easy baby but expecting it all to change soon! My daughter has turned very quiet/weird since he's come home :( really breaking my heart for her at the moment and hope she settles to her new baby brother soon.

well its only taken me since 7pm, (now 9:41) but i have finally updated the first post with a list of all our december babies i can see so far, i even took it upon myself to re-read through the 37 week thread we all swore by to update some babies too, so if you see some info in there that you havent given me please dont think im stalking you all lol
again will eventually get around to responding properly in here at some point tomorrow, going to make a feed as Travis is due to wake at any moment and then possibly write my birth story a little later while its still fresh-ish in my mind..
hope all you ladies and babies are ok though and all adjusting to life :)

xx

i hate digging the laptop out but theres so many of you to reply to and get to know i need it lol..

Jess - im glad charlottes good for you and oh, i'll be honest travis is marvellous too, hopefully following his big bro :)

Dantesmom - you def do have your hands full, your a braver woman than i am, ive got a 4 yo and travis and i couldnt imagine having one in between, even though theyre both good as gold its still hard work trying to entertain them both..i agree completley with what you said about being supermom, my house is relativley clean, still manic after xmas, but we're all happy and healthy so thats all that matters, plus school starts again monday so i get to do a manic clean sunday when oh is here and just to keep on top of it through the week and everything is good :) travis is also bottle fed, he has a bottle when he gets up, then one around 3 hours later, then he'll go around 4 hours, then come around 7pm ish he'll cluster feed for a few hours, down then around 11ish, awake for another bottle about 12ish and he'll sleep til anytime between 5am and 6am..that isnt set in stone just yet tho and will be due to change soon as ashtons back in school as there'll be 2 school runs in there as well somewhere

clair - hi, glad you had a better labour this time round, they say seconds are worse than first usually dont they so its good news for you :) youre lucky you've got a good sleeper too, i know all babies are different but you dont realise until you join somewhere like this just how different babies are..

lau - of course you can join, all you need to join is a baby who was born in december.. how lovely having a boxing day baby :)

nina - better late than never, sounds like you had a pretty rough time, especially with her having a knot in her cord, sounds very dangerous, must have been hard for you not being able to hold her on certain days, bet your making up for lost time now tho, hope the testing comes back with the results you want, not long now for your meeting, i hope you dont mind me asking, and please tell me if you do but what genetic testing has she had? like i say if you mind just tell me to mind my own :)

loui - same goes to you, course you can join, im glad its not just me finding it hard changing from 1 to 2, we'll get there in the end im sure lol

bunnyboo - xmas day, thats lovely :) i cant believe travis is 4 weeks old today, it goes so fast :(

jaymari - i think ruby might have some gift, dont suppose she'd happen to know the lottery numbers too lol.. the hospital told me to feed little and often too, no chance of that, he'd scream the house down if i did..

hb.x - hi hayley, glad cole is doing better now, travis has a blocked nose too and the saline drops just arent cutting it, he has a dummy too which makes it worse as he tries to settle but cant as he cant suck his dummy and breathe through his nose at the same time.. he'll get there with his sleeping in the end, fingers crossed he settles a bit better for you in the night before your oh goes back to work

louise - hope your daughter opens up a bit around her brother soon, shes still little herself so no matter how much you try and prepare her for having a brother i should imagine its a massive shock to her, hopefully she'll be more herself soon,

themoonwelove - you can indeed join, added you to the first page

well ladies, i wont be replying to you all like this again a while, my fingers are hurting now lol..
we didnt have the best of nights last night, travis has a blocked nose and had trouble settling for a while, was hoping i could get a shower at some point today to make myself feel a bit more human but no chance of that, looks like im waiting for oh to get home before i do..
how is everyone today? how were your nights?
xx

It's neuro genetic testing. My son has an unspecified neuro genetic disorder. He has a severe global developmental delay, hypotonia (low muscle tone), skeletal dysmorphia, hyper pigmentation (is light in all features, drastically lighter then anyone in either family), has a sensory processing disorder, likely somewhere on the autism spectrum, and a has a small handful of genetic abnormalities.

As for my daughter, she had a 2 vessel cord instead of 3 which can be a sign of a possible genetic disorder, her head also measured slightly small, although her brain seems to be fully formed (they did an ultrasound while she was in NICU), and she also has one of those genetic abnormalities that my son does. It's called a dorsal dimple and simply put is just a small indentation in the tissue (a dimple) at the base of the spine. With these and my son's issues they just want to make sure she doesn't also have a neuro genetic disorder because early intervention is the best way for a special needs child to thrive in today's world.

And I really don't mind talking about it. My son might be special needs but he is an otherwise healthy (rarely gets sick), happy and vibrant little boy. Everyone he meets loves him and he just enjoys life to the fullest so I feel that he hasn't lost out on quality of life, what's the point of feeling ashamed of such an amazing little boy? I want people to know what I've been through so that people (in general) can learn to accept that special needs isn't abnormal, it's just not typical. That starts by advocating for my son and educating other people about him.
