Decorating and Furniture costs when movin into a council house

So we have been on the register for a council house for a longggg time, I am now 39weeks pregnant at all of a sudden at the wrong time a house has come up! And they want us occupying it by the 1st of Jan :-S however because of xmas and the new baby on his way were pretty skint atm, the council were moving in with told us we don't get any decorating funds but she said there are other ways of getting help of the government! Just wondering if anyone knows how we go about getting some sort of decorating grant or something to help? My partner works full time and I am obviosly on maternity but was on long term sick before that. Thanks in advance x

if you are on income support or JSA you can claim a community care grant or a budgeting loan which is an amount of money based on what you say you need and you don't pay it back if its the grant and you do if its a loan
