What's the best way to defrost a chicken? I know you're supposed to do it in the fridge but I've tried that before with chicken thighs and they were still frozen the next day!

I defrost in the fridge and a few hours before i need to cook it i get it out and leave it on the side and it's always fully defrosted, I also find the fridge doesnt fully defrost, im cooking chicken right now hahax

I leave it out on the ledge covered with foil and then transfer to the fridge once defrosted. Not what they say but if I leave it in the fridge it'll stay frozen! Never been ill *touches wood*

I always buy bags of the individual sealed breasts and pop them in a jug of cold water :) also works if you separate your chicken before freezing and double bag it tightly. Doesn't need to be completely submerged either :)

I fill the sink with cold water & put chicken in its pkg in the water. Thaws in a few hours & stays cold.

I put mine on the side in the kitchen overnight during the winter (bearing in mind our kitchen doesn't have any heating so it gets very very cold (like 8-9 degrees). During the summer I partially defrost it in the fridge and then put it on the side for the last few hours

in the microwave! i do it for everything except joints of meat! never been ill x

Wish id read this earlier, put chicken drumsticks in fridge yesterday to defrost and they're still frozen, lol. Tomorrows tea instead I guess :flow:

I have always defrosted it in the fridge overnight and if it needs any more defrosting after that then leave out in the kitchen for a while :)

I always use the defrost function on my microwave never been ill

Defrost mine on the side overnight (unless its a hot summer day!) and then put it in the fridge for the day to cook when i get home from work

I put in the fridge to defrost but I usually do it say 9am in the fridge this morning for tomorrow nights dinner then around 3 tomorrow I'll probably lift it out and set it on the side for 2-3 hours.

I hate defrosting in the microwave even though I have a defrost feature I find it starts to cook it as well (don't think its meant to do that lol)

take it out the freezer put it on draining side of sink until its done
