Hey ladies,
Just wondering if any of you have any hints or tips to help - my dd demand feeds and still feeds at least 4 times during the day if not more. Anyway, i will be back at work all day, 2 days a week in a couple of weeks and i really want our bfing relationship to continue as dd shows no signs of wanting to wean. I would also appreciate any reassurance from anyone who has experience of this as am so worried about it :( I am hoping to get home at lunchtimes to feed (I have never left her for more than 2 hours before).
Also, do work have to provide me with time to pump considering she is a toddler and how do i manage this as i only pump when i have engorgement or a blockage.
Thanks in advance xxx

My daughter is much younger so not sure if it will be the same but I started back to work one day a week at the beginning of September. I also demand feed. My boobs normally feel empty during the day (only full in the morning) so I wasn't expecting it to be too bad but they are bursting by lunchtime!! I feed her at 7am, then 8.30am before I drop her off at nursery. I express at lunchtime and then pick her up between 4 and 5, she then has a huge feed from both sides! The first time she didn't take much from a bottle at nursery and I was a little worried (although she seemed fine) but she has drunk more and more each time (13oz over 3 feeds this week). I freeze whatever I express and bring it to nursery for her the following week but also leave a carton of formula in case of emergancy.

I am pretty sure that your employers have to provide a place for you to pump and also a fridge for you to store the milk. My office is very small so I just go and sit in my car with by breastfeeding apron on.

Good luck xx

i went back to work when my lo was 9 months he was still feeding 4 hourly i work 3 14hr days in a row so he goes a long time without milk as he wont take expressed milk. since going back to work he has cut his day feeds down to 3-4 times a day and will still wake 2-3 times at night for feeds so we are still going strong :)
when i first started back my boobs were so full that i had to pump 4 hourly but now i have got used to it i can go longer without pumping i think its easier as i now have only 1 working boob i just tend to pump when i start to feel uncomfortable. im very open with my pumping at work i always do it on my lunch break i sit in the staff room some of my work friends dont even notice that im pumping lol! im a nurse so no one cares that i pump :)
good luck :)

I am back to work, 5 days a week, 8:30am - 4:30pm. I come home for lunch and feed Kelana. I make sure she has lunch first though, because we found out, she wouldn't eat her food after I breastfed her. I feed her before I go to work, after she eats breakfast, and I feed her when I pick her up after work, and then as much as she wants after that. Then she feeds all night when she decides to come in our bed. It works out well.
