Demand led feeding in neonatal

Thanks Claire

I take it you were at Crosshouse neonatal? I just find it so hard, some of the mws/nurses are fantastic and others are really short with you for just trying to involve yourself in your babies care.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer before we can just bring Noah home and get on with being a family.

Is his feeding the only reason hes still in? If it is, is there not a transitional care ward in the SCBU that you can stay and have him with you? That way you can be there for all his feeds and also get yourself used to being up every 4 or so hours?

He will be more sicky untill his tummy gets used to the amount he needs but they shouldent force it on him.

I dident leave the hospital untill Niamh came home but we were only in 6 days, i went from the normal ward to a bed on the transitional care room. N was on a drip to help with jaundice as she was too sleepy to feed. She came off the drip once she could take 90ml every 4 hours and as soon as she was off the drip she was in the TC room with me while still under the phototherepy lights. They did put a feeding tube in her nose just incase she needed topping up but she never needed it.

Thanks Claire

yeah unfortunatly my care at crosshouse maternity was shocking but Ellies care in neonatal was good except for wee Pam!!! lol any questions just as me xx

Thanks girls :hugs:

We've just been to the hospital this morning and they want us to room in tonight and hopefully take Noah home tomorrow  :wohoo: slightly shocked given yesterday's consultant said we were looking at least another week but this mornings consultant said it's worth trying tonight.

Fingers crossed my little man will be home tomorrow!!
