Did anyone see it? What do you think? Cos me and my hubby watched it and had a really good 'debate' (argument ha ha) about it. Whether it was aload of fake nonsense, is it ethical etc. just interested to hear your views!

In terms of ethics, all of Derren Browns 'subjects' have previously applied to be a part of one of his shows at some stage and so have already consented. Or so i believe!

With regards to whether or not it is all 'real' hmmmmm. Not sure. Whenever I usually watch his shows Im astounded by what he does and 100% believe he is the real deal. But this apocolypse just seems 'off'. Cant help but think that the guy is well aware of what is going on.

 Im just not sure! What do you think?

I thought it was shite basically! Totally unrealistic IMO

I don't know what I believe :/ It seems fake but then none of us have been there, hopefully never will and wouldn't know how we would act.

It's just when he woke up from the "coma" he took the mask of and looked at the ventilator and just took the mask of and got up and walk  surely you would be like wtf before you got up?

I missed it, does anyone no if its on catcup on virgin?

I think it's real, you never know how you'd act in that situation and i'm finding it absolutely fascinating - thought the girl actor could've been a little better, the 'I wish I had a big brother' bit seemed waaay too obvious to me.

My OHs brother worked behind the scenes in one of the theatres he toured in and said with confidence that no stooges were used - don't think channel 4 would legally be allowed to claim it if it wasn't true anyway.

I think its completely real and LOVE them! I remember the Zombie one well and that was just as amazing, can't wait till next week now :D

I was really cringing when she said that:dohh:

I really dislike Derren brown but hubby likes him so that's how we ended up watching him. He is so slimy. I don't know how he does what he does but it seems really fake to me.
I was under the impression that for it to be ethical the person needs to give informed consent, which in this case can't be possible cos it would totally spoil the experiment? They must have got round that one somehow.
To me his reaction just didn't seem quite right, if it had been a film that's how someone would have played it. He didn't seem to care where his family were until about 5 minutes in. He showed some emotion towards the end but I didn't see real tears
There were a few major plot holes IMO- the whole Wales/ Scotland thing? Do Wales and Scotland suddenly have a viral force field on them all of a sudden? Why would you bother going all the way to scotland when you can go to Wales?
It also really bugs me the arrogance of Derren brown suggesting people are bums doing nothing with their lives who essentially need to be taught a lesson. All the 'lessons' the guy was learning was very very encouraged to me, didnt come from him at all!!

No stooges are used, I've been to 2 of his shows, one show a friend was picked to be used in a trick, the other show my husband was. My husband was speechless afterwards as he's not one to believe in all of it! He picks people by throwing frisbees out, you can tell by people's reactions that they are completely shocked just like everyone else! He honestly is amazing.

Not sure what I think about his Apocolypse show though, it's kinda freaky. I suppose no one knows how they'd react in that situation, certain parts you can see he looks like he's shitting himself, other times im like, why isn't he more scared or confused?? I look forward to seeing the final part of it though...

I thought this programme was absolutely fantastic and can't wait for the next one.

As to the comments about the subject being too calm - bear in mind everyone reacts differently to trauma/stress and whilst he didn't know what he was applying for he's been thoroughly vetted by psychologists etc who knew exactly what he was going to be put through. I admit he seems to be handling it well - I'd be a gibbering idiot - but that's obviously why he was picked. They've spent a hell of a lot of time and money on this stunt and they're not going to pick someone who'd just fall apart at the first moment

I don't think the guy was calm. When he was watching the TV you could see absolute terror in his face, his eyes were brimming. And when he started to cry when he found that poster :nope: I don't know what I believe, but I believe that man is very scared x

I agree, did you see the flashbacks they showed of what's to come on Friday? He was screaming and everything, think it'll be pretty intense

I love him! Me and OH always watch him together but he works nights now so was at work... Watched it on my own. I would of been so scared! I believe it though if I'm honest... Everyone reacts differently to stress etc. and what could he of done sat there and cried or did what he did and get up and look around etc.
he was chosen because they obviously thought he was suitable an not gonna break down.. And technically he did consent as he applied to be on the show although didn't know what it was at the time x
