DH high fever before OV

Yes. This happened. While on our romantic 3 day trip, the first night DH got a high fever that lasts till today, 3,5 days later. Of course he got medication once he realized, but as it happened in the middle of the night, his sperm is fried already.

I read on line that it takes 3 months for sperm to fully grow and that is how long it will take before we have a chance of a BFP. I need some support here. I want to bang my head on the wall.

Anyone had something similar happen while TTC?

I mean, 3 months ?!?!

Sorry to hear your DH was sick on your trip! Is he feeling better now?

Don't read too much into what you read on the Internet. A man's testicles will descend when too hot, and shrink when too cold. I don't think his fever means his sperm are fried.

People get sick all the time and still manage to get pregnant. Don't worry about that right now. Hope your DH is feeling ok!

thank you so much redlemonade. I definitely needed that. He is feeling somewhat better, but only when on meds. Apparently it is a throat infection/inflammation that causes the fever, but now he started anti-inflammatory drugs, so I hope tomorrow he will be fine.

Well, it wasn't completely ruined We got to BD before the fever (but I was only 10 CD) and we did walk around Ghent, took some great pictures, ate nice food... It's just that we couldn't do all the things we planned, but I would be ungrateful if I said we didn't have a relatively good time

DH saw how upset I was after reading about what fever does to sperm and he was super nice about it. He said that we will BD as much as we can (every other day) and make sure to do our best I feel lucky to have him.

Aw your DH sounds so sweet. And it sounds like the weekend wasn't a total write off!

You're still in with a good chance so try not to worry! I read a bfp story the other day and the woman said they'd only DTD 4 days before ov!

I'm doing good here! In the horrid tww now so trying to keep my mind off things baby-related and just stay positive. It's always the last week if the tww that's the hardest though.

OK, just in case someone else gets panicked about a fever like I did, here is what a midwife told me about fever and sperm:

"With regard to the fever – raised body temperature does affect sperm, which is why they are housed outside of the body! However, sperm are generated constantly – so a fever will affect only the sperm in the body at the time of the raised temperature. After the fever passes, any new sperm produced will be unaffected. This process is a lot quicker than 3 months!!"

I know midwives are not fertility specialists, but they sure know a thing or two about the human body, I believe.
