Did anyone use any 'gender swaying' techniques (particularly for a girl)..?

I'm not pregnant or TTC at the moment, but I have recently become very curious about the whole 'gender swaying' thing and if any of it actually works.

I have 3 boys (identical twins age 11, and another boy who's just under 7 months).
Despite what everyone else thought(!), I did actually want another boy this time as it was OH's first baby and he wanted a boy. I also had a really good experience with my twin boys and didn't see any problem/issue with having another gorgeous blue one :-)

We would like at least one more baby in the next couple of years.
It took us 10 months to conceive this baby, which became very stressful and upsetting for me in the end; so although I'm not dead-set on wanting a girl next time, and obviously I'd be happy either way with just a healthy baby - it would be great to add a bit of pink into the mix..!

I've read about about it recently, and a lot of theories actually just seem to contradict each other - so was just wondering if anyone had any experience with any of it; what worked for you/someone you know, what didn't, etc... :-)

I have three boys so no help lol. Read up on the shettles method tho x

I didn't follow any theory as such but I did use the clearblue dual indicator ovulation kit. As soon as it showed I was ABOUT to ovulate (the key bit to my theory!) we had sex, twice that day, and not again. I believe this allowed time for the boy sperm to die away (they expire quicker than female sperm) and a few days later I ovulated with only girl sperm remaining. I got my girl so I believe this worked!

I used that clearblue indicator when we were TTC last time - so would that be when you got the flashing smiley face..?

I have read about the Shettles theory Donna but there's also another theory which contradicts it and says the opposite (I think it's the O+12 one..?). So it's all a bit wishy-washy to me..!

Yes as soon as I got the smiley flashy face we tried and I kept testing just to be sure I ovulated a few days later and I did. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get your girl this time

We considered using gender swaying techniques as I desperately wanted a girl second time round. We didn't in the end though because after reading up on it, it seemed like a load of rubbish! Also, I felt it would put additional pressure on us to produce a girl and make any gender disappointment worse. I'm glad that I didn't as I got my girl in the end!

Have a look on genderdreaming.com. I don't believe it's rubbish. It is a sway and not a guarantee though of course

We desperately wanted a girl and swayed with our first baby. As one of the pp's said we timed intercourse for a few days before ovulation (according to the clearblue ovulation test with the smiley/flashing smiley faces). We dtd about three times and stopped as soon as we saw the peak fertility symbol. It worked and we got our girl. My second baby I wasn't fussed about the gender and we dtd once on the day of ovulation and hey presto got a boy so I definetly think the timed intercourse theory worked for me. I also did a very high calcium diet for my girl sway which is supposed to alter the ph of your body to favour girl sperm.

It's never guaranteed to work but it has to be worth a try, you have nothing to lose.

I think the two most important factors are how far away from Ovulation you are when you DTD for baby and what pH your vagina is. I think the girls do better in a more acidic environment :flow:

Personally, I don't believe that this works. I had an IUI and my O was triggered. Once I Oed the sperm was injected right in. In this case you would thing the boys would be faster and get there right away because the egg is there. Well...I ended up with a girl.

My family just seem to make boys, haha! My mum has 7 grandsons and only 2 granddaughters! So i'm fully expecting to have another boy and I'd be fine with that.
It definitely would be interesting to try out some of the techniques though..! I would say 'it can't do any harm' but I do worry a bit that it'll prolong conception of any kind by being so limited (took a long 10 months with current baby, and that was with no limitations!) :-/

With the clearblue digital smiley face test - doesn't that predict ovulation within 24 hours - therefore if you wait for the smiley face you are too close to ovulation to rule out male sperm getting to the egg?

With my two - we dtd within exactly the same timings - once smiley face showed and the next day too. I have a boy and girl! If I was ever to have another though I'd love a girl so am interested in what could sway that way

Everyone seems to talk about the shettles method, or timing of ovulation but this is now known to be an outdated and basically rubbish theory.

I think they meant when the flashing smiley face shows, which means ovulation is approaching (I can't remember exactly but I think it's within 3 days?), and shows before the solid smiley face (which I think means ovulation within 24 hours).

My cycles had a mind of their own last time though - sometimes I didn't even get the flashing smiley, I just went straight from nothing to the solid smiley! Or sometimes I'd have nothing one day, flashing smiley the next day, and solid smiley the next day.
Will be interesting to give it a go but might be a bit difficult if those sort of things happen again!

We only dtd once in the cycle we conceived our girl, and that was on ovulation day! I don't believe in the theories at all!
