Differences: US vs UK

Earth quales wouldnt be any better there either :haha:

In San Fran? No, I guess not. I mean, we have them here in Virginia too, but they aren't nearly as devastating.

I would like to live in Alaska too..but yeah, they have really bad earthquakes.. worse then California I think.

I lived in Anchorage, Alaska for 8 years. And I remember feeling some earth quakes but never any major ones.

You guys have had some really strong earthquakes. I know that Anchorage had one of the largest (9.2!) largest earthquakes in the history of the world in 1964. Anchorage was destroyed.

I still think it's lovely there though.

I miss California so much! I love that you can literally drive 45 minutes and be at the forest or the beach. I miss my family more than anything.

SMA, I'm a qualified preschool teacher, not elementary.

I agree, California has a bad rep. People assume too much about it, but it's really a nice place to live. Oh and since I've been there (MY ENTIRE LIFE pretty much) I've only experienced two earthquakes AND that's living on the most active fault line in the state!

In poland isn't so many natural disasters but primarily
-Storms - not as strong as tornadoes or hurricanes, but trees can be uprooted and roofs taken away
-Floods - in 2010 was two big floods

We go through periods of bad weather, lots of rain etc. Nothing disastrous though the ferry often floods (perks of living on a mountain though). I do live in a wet country though

Ya, it is possible for them to have large earthquakes. But the eight years I was there we didn't. And I'd move back in a heartbeat. I guess it depends on how scared you are of earthquakes.

not everyone in california is an arrogant and rude person :/. i've lived in CA my whole life (minus a couple years while i was away at school) and i've noticed that normally the rude people are the folks that move here from out of state and feel the need to take on a "california persona."

If you read the post I made after, you'll see I said I visited san fran and people were lovely there. And I never said EVERYONE is rude. I've just ran into a lot of bad people here. Trust me, I'm not a rude person. I'm the type of person that will let people cut in line if they have less stuff than me at a checkout aisle. Or I'll pull over and help if I see someone broken down at the side of the road. I haven't received the same type of courtesy while living here though. It's just a completely different breed of people and obviously you are going to get your back up about it when you are from here. I'm a military spouse and every single wife I've met has said the exact same thing about the people.

San Francisco is pretty cool. I grew up accepting of every race, color, creed, and sexual orientation. It's honestly made me such a better person! I can't wait for our little guy to grow up around there! People are very nice. You have the odd asshole, but mostly, it's a good place :)

I can understand why so many people stereotype Californians though. I mean, I was joking when the Katy Perry song came out that everyone is going to think that we run around in bikini tops and cut off jeans. :haha: Back in the 1800s anyone in Europe though people in the USA were cowboys

Is that where you are from than? I knew you were from California, but wasn't sure which city. I really did love it there. It was SO child friendly too. We stopped at a few parks so Emma could play while we were there and they had a separate area for toddlers and an area for the older kids. I thought that was so neat because Emma could play at her own pace without the bigger kids running her over. I loved all the victorian style townhouses too. We stopped and saw the Full House famous row and that was SO cool to see IRL.

I'm from a town about 45 minutes out of San Francisco called Belmont. I had a wonderful childhood and there were lots of activities for me to do. That's something I've noticed over here. There isn't a lot for kids to do, such as youth clubs, etc. Sometimes I just see kids hanging out in front of our local shop asking people to buy them alcohol. It's kinda sad.

I think thats an area thing though, not a UK on the whole thing? well I dont think. I know council workers and youth support groups bend over backwards to put on activities for the kids/teens here. x

oooooooooooooooo ya that would be easier to find work and how fun to work with only preschoolers. i was going through all the ECE classes to be an pre k aid but didnt finish them.....

were also on a pretty active fault line and havnt had them to bad, they dont bother me at all. but one thing i love about so cali is that where im at it doesnt snow and we dont get all that much rain so its not like we ever have to dig out the cars from snow and the summers do get pretty hot but not as hot as AZ or some other states
