i've been having some head spinning dizzy spells the past few days and was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences. i've been breastfeeding exclusively and figure it has something to do with that. maybe anemia? i'm scheduling a doctor's appointment but wanted to get some opinions too.

the first spell happened while i was brushing my teeth 4 days ago and i just passed it off but i had another episode the other night and was so dizzy and nauseous i threw up. ever since i've been kinda dizzy here and there. i've been loading up on extra fluids and trying to make sure i'm eating enough in the meantime.

i appreciate your imput! thanks guys.

i was going to ask if you were eating and drinking enough, you should still be having increased calories whilst bf (not sure of the amount). hopefully you increasing you food and fluid intake will cure it but def get checked out with doc incase its unrelated problem

Definitely make sure you're eating enough and also that's it's as nutritious as poss - lots of fruit and veg etc etc.

I did get quite bad headaches in the first couple of weeks because I was dehydrated but no dizziness.

Let us know what the doc says!

I had this too a few weeks ago. I made sure to take my prenatal vitamin and made sure I ate every 3-4 hours in the day and right when I got up in the morning. It really seemed to help.

how were your iron levels during pregnancy? it could be your low on iron which reults in iron deficiency anaemia - which is what i have. dizziness is one of the symptons but a blood test will tell you for sure. its nothing serious and the doc will just give you iron tablets.

The head spinning can also be a sign of an inner ear virus. The doc should be able to tell you!! Keep us posted - hope you are feeling better.
xx

I get this loads recently since the growth spurt, presumably because he's feeding more. I also got migraines which I only ever get from blood pressure or blood sugar so I upped my calories and I've been reasonably OK since.

thank you guys!

i just got the results of the blood tests from my doctor. everything is normal. my iron levels were through the roof throughout pregnancy too so i was wondering if that was it. apparently not. i had no obvious signs of ear infections, but by the time i made it in to my doctor's appointment the dizzy spells had stopped. he also checked my thyroid and it looked fine.

it could have been anything little thing, like a small cold.. i have a feeling it was the LO having a growth spurt and me slacking off on my calorie intake. but i'm making sure i'm eating enough and drinking enough water so i really think that's what made the difference.
