Hi guys,

I'm currently 6 wks preggo, and didn't go back to work after my last maternity leave after having my son, choosing to stay at home with him (lucky me! :happydance::happydance:).

I've recently started my childminding course (after months and months of waiting!), so won't be qualified for another 3-6 mths - by that point I'll be 4-7mths preggo. So not sure I'll start childminding for that short period of time - will take it up after a maternity leave timescale.

Last time, I qualified for maternity allowance as I was contracting at my last company.

So my quesso is, do I qualify for anything this time round? I've looked at the goverment website but its looking like I don't qualify for anything?

thanks all!

Maternity Allowance
What is it?
Maternity Allowance may be available to help you take time off to have your baby. You must not be entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay from any employer. You must also have been a registered self-employed person or have been employed in at least 26 weeks out of the 66 week period running into the week before the week your baby is due.

You should claim as soon as you can after you have been pregnant for 26 weeks. If you delay, you may lose benefit. There are a number of conditions that you need to meet in order to claim maternity benefit.

looking at the dates, I don't think you'll qualify for MA.

you may be entitles to ESA
