do u believe in god?

I used to be a very devout Christian as a teenager (a bit over zealous in fact now I look back).
The way I behaved as a "Christian" and they way all my church friends behaved towards others has really put me off TBH. I now also see no point in church gatherings etc. if it makes people feel good as a social event then fab but it is no longer for me.

So now I believe there is a higher power, forces beyond our control. I think it's wonderful for people to believe in whatever makes them happy and gives them peace. So long as it never harms others. And by harming that includes intolerance of their beliefs and judgement of their lifestyle.

I believe but have struggled with my faith over she years for varying reasons. I also respect others views though.

Nope, my personal view is we'd have a much nicer existence without religion and the conflict it constantly provokes.
I always find it strange when religious people think atheists don't have a purpose/morals - surely it's better to the right thing because you believe it's right than because someone else says you should or you're frightened of earning your deity's displeasure.

Personally no. And I don't believe "God gives us miracles and good things when we do good deeds" cause for some reason it's always the people in the world who do shit that get good. That's just be belief though lol

:flow:

Thanks for all the replies ladies either way! I do not disagree with anyones beliefs however I do stand by my own! :) I agree though with the ladies who say to live a good life and to be happy and enjoy things-whether you believe or don't that is totally true and I respect every single woman on this site for living the way you do however it may be!! :-D

Yes of course I believe in God. He plays a very important role in my life on a daily basis. I do not believe in medium/psychics or any of those hoax's and believe also that they are wrong. And my beliefs became even stronger when I felt his strong presence with me.

I do not believe in God per say, but I do believe in there being a higher power, a greater energy out there. I feel that everything is connected by an energy that keeps life in balance....

I lost faith in "God" when my sister almost died next to me. I could never understand how Someone would feel that taking the life of a child was the best thing for everyone. With my belief that everything is a connected energy I take comfort knowing that when I went through my ectopic, even though my baby died, I know it's energy is out there and around me. :)

I believe in "God"/ higher power. I have a science/ medical background and seeing how things work or comes together alway amazes me.

My faith and belief in God is very personal to me. I hate labels but would probably be called " Christian". It's my private relationship with this higher power. I do go to church because it's a place where I feel like I can meditate and worship to this higher power. I have my own beliefs on the bible which I won't get into but because I feel it's very private and personal to me. I would never impose my views onto anyone else. Work colleagues and people around don't know I go to church or about my personal faith. I would rather them know that I am a good trustworthy person first than what my religious beliefs are.

God- yes
Religion- no

I was raised in an independent bible church and school then went to a Christian college. Never felt I belonged and was so turned off by the hypocrisy. My church/school split when I was in 10th grade over a stupid ignorant comment by the pastor. Then the new church my family went to, the younger crowd completely ignored me and the 2 others that switched-as in rude ignore. I exploded one day in 11th grade and backed all of them into a corner and berated them for their lack of common courtesy and hypocrisy (they would be all friendly when the pastor was there). Just seemed all talk and a lot of judging. I still seriously get the creeps when people all of a sudden start talking in bible language and my brain just zones out.

And I can't stand when people judge others in the name of religion. Leave the judging to god and love your neighbor.

No I don't believe in God or Religion.

I don't need 'higher power' to have a purpose in life or believe in Heaven. I'm quite happy in the knowledge that when I die, my body will be buried & my life is over. That knowledge to me just makes me want to live life to the full now.

I do think it's nice that people have faith, but it's just not for me.

Nope definatly not. my mum died when i was 17 and i always think if there was a god she wouldnt of died. my ex grandmother in law told me god had taken he because she was too special for earth...to me that was an absolute insult and i never spoke to her again (she is a devout christian). But each to their own we are all different xxx

Up until last year I would have said no, I don't believe in the existence of god. I shared the common view of god, as an object, a thing, a something that created the world and sits up on the clouds judging the world and keeping it running. Then I learned that is a misunderstanding. That is a picture used to show children what god is. It isn't god.

I am am advocate of science, I believe it will bring us an explanation of how the universe came to exist. But that doesn't mean I don't think religion can add to that theory. Religion and science have different aims - science aims to explain how the universe was formed, religion aims to explain why. They are not necessarily competing theories.

I believe that the universe had a starting point - likely explained by the big bang theory. I believe that is when the universe began. By believing that, I believe in a creation principle that underpins everything in the universe. God is a principle that underpins everything in the universe. So by that definition, I probably believe in God.

I don't believe in god in a theist sense, I don't practise a religion or follow a religious text. If I ever knew for sure about the existence of god, it would definitely be in the deist sense. I believe that the universe began and therefore there was a creative principle - not a fluffy bearded man with a white robe and angels flying around his head (as many atheists see god), but by a principle of creation.

I can't bear it when it is implied by atheists that a belief in god is medieval, stupid, primitive, naive or incompatible with the modern world and science, because it simply is not. Of course there are religions which promote religious texts as the sole explanation of history, but they are few in comparison to those which exist in harmony with scientific theory. Science requires as much faith as religion, so it annoys me when it is viewed as superior to religion.

Sorry I went off on a tangent!

Yes I believe in God, Jesus Christ and Mary. I am catholic, while there are some things I don't agree with in my religion, I still believe in it strongly and it has helped me so much in the dealing with the death of my child. :hugs::hugs:

I'm Pagan so you could say I believe in higher powers, but I'm more into the belief that we have balance in the universe, like a God and a Goddess. I don't like the thought of heaven and hell. In most belief systems, you actually don't find heaven and hell. I like the thought of the Celtic beliefs where there is an Otherworld where everyone goes :)

No I dont believe in God x
So many bad things happening in the world how can there be?? My Personal opinion is religion is the reason there is so much war & hate in the world, because people believe their religion is better.
I have a purpose in life & that is to be a good person & bring my children up to be the same, My children are my purpose in life x
I do believe in 'heaven' though, I believe we go somewhere where all our loved ones that have passed have gathered to meet us again x

No I was brought up in a very religious christian family but I think science makes a lot more sense

My husband isnt religious either we share alot of the same views, I think we are humanists but he would prob say he was a jedi lol

I believe we are souls experiencing a human life...... but when we die we are all equal, there is no higher power, just different levels are awareness (too complex to get into right now) ........so no i dont believe in a 'god' x

No i don't and i feel quite strongly about the existence of religion in general. However when it comes to religion it is best to keep your opinions to your self lol.

I 1000000% believe in God.... Not sure how anyone could go through life not knowing what there purpose in life is, how that you just die and then go no where.... Your life would be pointless... How miracles happen everyday.... How a baby comes from one egg and one sperm...

Tell you the truth it makes me sad when people don't believe....

I don't believe in God. As others have said, please don't feel sad, I'm very happy and plan to make the most of the time I have. For me such miracles can be explained by science (mind blowing though they are!)
