It can be something your parents did and you have carried on or something you decided you wanted to be a tradition for your children.

I always make gingerbread biscuits and mincepies on christmas eve. The gingerbread goes on the tree for the morning and the mince pies are for as and when. These are just things I have done although the mince pies is because I remember my dad making mincepies on christmas eve one year while we watched Earnest saves christmas and I loved the smell of them baking. I'm at my sisters this year but will definately make the gingerbread for the tree but probably on 23rd

Only food wise really.
Every Christmas morning we have Eggs Benedict. That I won't be able to start with Grady this year though!

On christmas eve we always open a new pair of pjs to wear at night for xmas morning, and when I was younger we'd always have a mini buffet in at night in the living room and watch a christmas film.

Chinese on Christmas Eve  No idea why

only leaving a mince pie, carrot sticks and a beer out for father christmas.

Although this year our fire place is half way up the wall and has a complete glass front good luck with that one x

I did that last year and caught my husband eating it in the morning because he forgot when I went to bed :dohh:

Every christmas eve we go out to our local for a family dinner. Then we come home and have champagne and open one preset each.

On christmas day we open presents under the tree with champagne again, and then my mum cooks a breakfast. Then we open presents from 'santa' and/or extended family and have an early dinner at 4ish. Then we all go for a family walk with the dogs.

Boxing day we go round to my grandparents house for a mini post christmas celebration and lunch

This year we'll have Niamhs 1st birthday on the 23rd, and my grand parents 50th anniversary on the 25th so it will all be extra special :)

On Christmas we always have mimosa's (OJ and Champagne) in the morning while we open gifts and stocking stuffers. We wear our PJ's as well all morning. Then my mom and I always make a ham dinner.

awww i love christmas traditions and i cant wait to have a family xmas with ella :)

we used to have presents all day!

we started in am and got wash things and clothes etc, so we went off to have a wash and get dressed, then we would get hair and make-up type stuff so we would do our hair and make-up, then we would get jewellery. over dinner we would get a present between courses (if we ate our sprouts when we were younger lol) and we would get a big present after dinner! then we would get dvd's/cd's and all sit and watch a film/listen to music play games etc! and then we would get PJ's slippers etc and all get ready for bed and watch more films or just crash out 9this was more common as we got older coz we were all hammered!)

also a game with the christmas crackers which involves quiz's or dares, soooo funny!

I make it my mission every year to get someone blind drunk! on my mums turn she was trying to walk in my shoes, caught her hair on fire from the candle on the table and then just misbehaved all evening! he he!

cant wait for sam and I to start or continue these traditions for ella! cant get my mum hammered anymore tho coz we are staying at home as a family :( lol

Mince pie, carrots and wine out for Santa and then we'd always wake up to a mini stocking on our bed stuffed with sweets and tiny gifts. I do it for my husband now!!!!

aw i love family christmas traditions, when we were kids on christmas eve my mum an dad would ha ve friends over or we would go to their friends for a buffett style dinner an a few drinks {my mum an dad not us ha ha} then we would go to bed as soon as we got back an whilst we were in bed my mum an dad would write a letter to us from santa an put it at the bottom of the stairs with a half eaten mince pie, a nibbled carrott for rudolph an a glass of sherry an in the morning 1 of us would look from the top of the stairs to see if santa had been then we would go downstairs an have a drink in the kitchen whilst my dad set up the video camera in the lounge an then he would call us in an all our presents would be set out in seperate piles an we would take turns opening them, then we'd have christmas dinner either at my grandparents or they would come to ours then after dinner my mum an dad would suprise us with out big present, like if it was a bike they'd say we needed to get something out the garage an our new bikes would be there etc :cloud9:

aw typing this has brought back all the exciting magical feelings u have as a kid at christmas

me an my dh plan to do the same with imogen as my dh loves this idea

oh i can't wait until christmas now :happydance:

Christmas is so much better when you have kids :D It's magical :cloud9:

nothing that stands out apart from stockings for everyone (including adults!)

Hmm my mommy always gives us an ornament for the tree every year on christmas eve, the only 'present' we could open the night before. Usually had something relating to what we were into that year...(dancing, sports, learning to drive ect.) We each have our own box so when we leave home we have a box of ornament for our own tree. I think its wonderful and can't wait to do it with our babies!

also she never put names on our presents. Cause we would always go shake them so she would do her own code like all one kids are in a certain wrapping paper or a little trinket on the box to help her remember who's are who's. haha. Clever woman!

i cant remember anything specific but we always got a new pair ofpjs on xmas eve and we do the same for dd now. when me and oh moved in together we decided xmas would just be a lil family thing for us, just me him and faith the whole day. we have a goose for xmas too instead of turkey and we go to a farm to pick it up together which is one of our little traditions :D im excited now, im gonna go order the goose lol
oh yeah we always go to my dads on boxing day too and have another xmas dinner!

I don't really have any that spring to mind! DF has tons!! It's our 1st Christmas alone together as a couple this year, even though it's going to be our 4th Christmas since getting together, so we're planning on adopting some of his family's traditions and making up our own! I'm planning on meeting up with a close friend nearer the time and making Christmas tree decorations. We're also making lots of presents this year- sloe gin, preserves, cakes and biscuits- and I'm going to go crazy with the baking, including making stollen and homemade mincemeat for the mince pies!! For the 1st time since my granddad died 12 years ago on December 20th, I'm actually going to have a Christmassy Christmas!!!! :happydance:

Beca

We open one present on Christmas Eve.
We also each get to eat one chocolate from a box of chocolates and if you get a pink centre you get another chocolate.
