Do you have a Tradition?

We have a lovely tradition !

We try and out do each other wil silly's !! It was a thing my grandaddy did ! (he had been gone for nearly 4 years now)

Last year i got a singing camel !!

we used to get up and had to do grandmas b'day first as her b'day is on christmas so after she done her pressies and cake we were allowed to do christmas. we would start with stockings which always had an outfit in, we would then have breakfast which was scrambled egg and salmon on muffins then get into new outfits and go to church. after church we would do rest of pressies, have dinner then spend the evening playing games etc. also each year us grandchildren would help to decorate the xmas cake. and there was always a coin in the xmas pudding.

We always go out and visit some family members on my mom's side, or my parents good friends, come home and open pjs and a present which used to be a Christmas movie when we were younger. Usually now we just watch Tim Allan's the Santa Claus or my sister and I watch The Family Stone since its been out because we both watch that movie. Oh yeah, Charlie Brown's Christmas as well :) On Christmas Day we alternate years of having a huge family dinner with my dad's family because they live here.

I already have a pair of pjs bought for miss priss for this Christmas Eve! I'm so excited for Christmas this year because last year she was only 6 weeks old and I was still recovering from a C-section!

Christmas celebrations kick off on Dec. 6 for St. Nick's day, when we wake up to find our filled Christmas stockings lined up on the sofa :).

On Christmas Eve, we always went to my dad's parents' house for dinner and presents with the family. At dinner, we'd break oplatki and say our family prayer, then eat a meal centered around ham, kielbasa and potato salad. Then the kids would go upstairs to find the pickle-shaped ornament hidden on the tree, and Grandpa would give us all a dollar after we found it.

Christmas Day used to be at my mom's parent's house but switched to my parent's house; after we opened our gifts from Santa and our parents, my mom's family would come over for dinner and more presents.

This year, and probably every year after because it's the only time his whole family gets together, we'll be celebrating in Minnesota with DH's family. Sooo... I guess it's going to be Hmong food and some sort of party? I'll be missing my family for sure... maybe I'll bring oplatki! I bet his family would enjoy that tradition too.

We open presents taking turns, one at a time, so everyone can see what everyone else has got. It can take HOURS though.

Also always got new pj's for xmas eve, which LO now always gets.

Also on xmas morning we used to get everyone up before going downstairs, so we could all open our presents together. This is again something i'm keeping up as i love to see LO's face light up as he discovers what he got.

god everyone used to get their pyjamas on christmas eve, even paul lol, we just got ours on xmas morning...
