about my awful awful vulvar varicosities!!!!! They are causing ++++ Discomfort!

I didn't have none with my first pregnancy....
With my second I got them but they weren't very bad until the end....
This time they are worse now at 16 weeks then they were at the end of my pregnancy with my last....

 My woohoo hurts

I can listen... mine hurts lots too. Not sure what it is though.. I have a combination of massive swelling, vaginal pain + bony pain. I feel for you its horrible.

My down there region is just really really achy! You can see some of the veins visible and obviously engorged and then my outer labia are really swollen as well...

Today is not to bad cause it's early yet but being on my feet all day, or sitting too much makes it worse...... and orgasm makes it incredibly painful and swollen for a good 24 hours :dohh:

yes hun I got some right sided swelling that when it goes down you can see the vein its awful!!! The heavy achey painful feeling is horrendous! Sending you lots of sympathy!

I was told taking a prenatal with vit E and C can help, also I got a support belt to take some weight of baby to see if that helps and of course the pelvic floor exercises and putting up the feet. Only trouble is within minutes of standing its back lol!

Isn't just absolutely awful! I used to want to have 4 or 5 kids but now after the first four months of extreme nausea and vomiting followed by this I'm not to sure I could handle it again.... And my pregnancies were so easy before this I'm not sure what's up with this one....

In regards to taking the vitamins... I'm a little nervous to be taking more than what is in my typical prenatal vitamin because vitamin E has been linked with causing stillbirth at levels lower than the maximum daily limit and excess vitamin C supplementation has been linked to increasing the risk of preterm labour and pre-eclampsia.... Not fun stuff.... so I'm just sticking to the recommended daily amount as opposed to approaching the recommended maximum amount, though I know they are wonderful vitamins to take to help with varicosities regardless of where they are located....

I have however been doing kegals galore and have been trying to rest on my left side with my hips elevated for at least 5 minutes every hour or two... Doing so does help, though as you said it doesn't take long at all before it comes back :dohh:

Does your supportive belt just for your tummy or do you have one that goes over top of your underwhere and puts upwards pressure on your woohoo region??? I've seen some support things specifically for vulvar varicosities (as well as uterine prolapse and urinary tract issues...) but they seem very $$$ and I would like to know if they actually work or if it's just a money grabber before I buy one. I do find the putting pressure on the area does ease the discomfort.... but ofcourse walking around holding my crotch is not the most appropriate and lady like thing to be doing....

Also, I noticed that when I have intercourse it HAS to be at night so I can lay down for several hours afterwards to allow the blood to go back to where it's suppose to be.... If hubby and I :sex: in the morning I pay for it all day long!!! Not fun!

What number baby are you on? this is my second baby and the first pregnancy was nothing like this at all! I too have had horrendous vomiting and nausea, infact its only just stopped at nearly 28 weeks, I do still feel sick a fair bit though! I never had varicose veins at all, never mind puffing out the old hoohaa, I just assumed the hormones of carrying a girl was much worse than carrying a boy, that or its my age lol! Do you know what your having?

I'm just taking sanagtogen prenatal, I too am a bit scared of vits, they aren't properly researched and licenced (I'm almost a nurse and get this drummed into us). My support belt is so far being rubbish really, its a tight around lower hips then hugs the bump from mothercare, to be honest its more helpful with the pubic pain I get from spd. Its comfy to wear with my leggings though, a bit more supportive! I was reading about the V brace but they looked expensive and hard to get hold of. I was on look out for some compression pants but can't find them either :haha:

 I could never dtd in the morning either, I can barely close my legs around it! Plus I worry about severe camel toe! I'm so glad have found someone to share this with, I wondered what the hell was happening to me! x

...about nothing and everything all at once?

Anyway, ouch! Not melodramatic or neurotic. That sounds awful. Fingers crossed it gets better.

Nope, you're not alone at all.... though this vulva vericose vein club is certainly one I'd rather not be a member of!

This is baby number 3 for me... With the first one (a boy) I had no nausea and vomiting at all. No breast tenderness. No varicose veins. No symptoms at all really. I absolutely LOVED being pregnant, thought it was the greatest thing ever!

With my second (a girl) I had very slight nausea (long car rides and the smell of ground beef cooking would make me nauseous but never to the point of needing or wanting to throw up), had ++ breast tenderness and I got a bad varicose vein on my leg behind my right knee and after 20 weeks the vulva varicose veins started to kick in.... BUT the vulva varicose veins would only ever bother me at night and usually only a long day of doing alot of standing or running around. They were tolerable. I still LOVED being pregnant and towards the end I was disappointed that it was gonna end......

Then this time around I was symptom free again until I hit week 6.... Then I was completely knocked off my feet with fatigue, nausea and vomiting. I couldn't eat most things, my diet ended up consisting entirely of soup, and I ended up losing around 10lbs. Around 14 weeks the nausea and tiredness has improved... I no longer vomit daily but now I get headaches regularly (and I never get headaches when I'm not pregnant) and the vulvar varicose veins are a million times worse! but I have no breast tenderness at all

This time I have a feeling it's a boy baby (which throws off the gender thing) and leaning towards the fact that now I'm just old :haha: I was just a young'n with my last two (I was 16 and then 19) and this time I'm 26.... Ok, so I'm still not that old but I'm ALOT older then I was before and the symptoms seem to be getting worse with time so it seems like a logical conclusion.

So what year of nursing are you in??? I was training to become a midwife - year 4 but I'm currently on a leave of absense. Unfortunatly those years of training have taught me that there's really not much that can be done for these damn troublesome veins... on a brighter note they tend to almost always disappear almost immediately follow the birth (only to return in old age :dohh:) but they completely went away last time so I am confident that they will disappear again! They bloody well better!

And I think I'm gonna order myself a V-brace and pray that it will actually work.... And since they're not the sexiest looking contraptions I imagine that it will also resolve my pain after intercourse problem. :haha:

I heart green day  With a preference for the older stuff...... You know you're old when your favorite music is from the 90's lol. My son thinks it's completely bizarre that I lived in a time period where the years started with 19... :dohh:

Oh and I just realized we must share the same due date! My ticker is wrong I'm actually due on March 25th I just have been too lazy to change it.....

I prefer the old stuff too! They used to be more fun before they got all political.

I just died the other day when they played Nirvana on the oldies station. If it was from the Unplugged album, I could have handled it (remember when music stations played music?). But no - just plain old In Utero stuff. Old being the operative term, much as is it is in my case...

I'm due the 23rd - close enough!

Anyways, if you're due on the 23rd then your ticker is wrong too! Cause you'd be 18 weeks today. Too lazy to change it too? :haha:

Me too! Sigh, we are apparently old.

Me, lazy? Never! I resent that.

No, I have it based on my LMP which was right on in terms of my cycle and (as we've discussed before) my completely unnecessary dating scan. If that's wrong :shrug:then yes, too lazy to change it! I'm very busy and important, you know!

LOL yep, we definitly are old.... but we're not that old yet.....
The other day I was driving to town with hubby and he turned the radio up to listen to the weather and then turned it back down as soon as Lithium started to play.... What the hell is up with that???? Now that's old.....

As for your ticker.... According to my handy dandy all knowing pregnancy wheel if you are due March 23 today you are 18 weeks exactly! I'm due on March 25th which puts me at 17 weeks and 5 days which is what your ticker states.

Well, I sure don't mind being put forward a couple days! Thanks. But now I am indeed too lazy to change my ticker....

And yes, your hubby is OLD. Mine, on the other hand, would turn it up and say I probably need the volume up so I can listen to my favourite golden oldy. Yes, he's charming.

My, we've gotten a touch off topic, haven't we?

Both my wheels and several sites I've gone to are telling me different things... I'm confused.... I prolly won't have baby till April anyways so doesn't matter much!

And yes my hubby is very very old! He started off as just plain weird but that disappeared as he aged.... When I first met him.... He <<<gasp>>> listened to incredibly loud..... techno dance music..... He had taken all of the seats out of the back of his car so he could blast his incredibly loud..... techno dance music.... Personally I almost prefer him listening to the weather over that weird stuff....

And yes we are off topic... but it's my thread and I can go off topic if I wanna! Especially if it helps take my mind of my throbbing girl bits.

Well, I see your hubby listening to techno (:haha:) - and raise you a hubby listening to hardcore gangsta rap.

I need to paint you the full picture - he is an incredibly pale, Dutch farmboy from rural Manitoba who went to a private Mennonite high school and is now a downtown corporate litigation lawyer. And he raps the lyrics and he does that hand gesture thing too.

I'm pretty sure mine's not coming until April, either. If I know my fetus, and I think I do, it's not too concerned about being on time or beign accommodating! My mother is convinced it's coming early, but that's wishful thinking, no doubt.

Glad to help take your mind of throbbing girl bits (again, I repeat my utmost sympathy).

Damn, you and your gangsta hubby win!

I have repetitively been shown to produce offspring that lack in punctuality.... Both of them went beyond their due date and both were induced... and the tardyness didn't stop there as demonstrated by my son missing his bus this morning :dohh:

This one I'm gonna try to vacate early (well I'll start trying at 37 weeks). I figure if I start providing eviction notices at 37 weeks, by 42 weeks baby peanut will make it's way out.... I really really don't want to be induced this time around and will not be a willing participant in that game unless medically necessary.
