Do you like where you live?

Love where we live. A middle sized town, market, shopping centre close to shops, parks, hardly any crime, LOTS of green belt land. 30 minutes from Central London, via train, 45 min drive to the beach, only downside is property price. But that is to be expected.

Love the area hate the house its to small and hate most of my neighbors

Nope. And can't do a darn thing about it right now, it sucks :( OH + I are in negotiations to move provinces (again). I'm getting fed up with the language issue.

I like where I live right now. I can walk to the middle of the city centre in 5 minutes and have everything right on my doorstep and I have a nice, bright quite large new build with nice neighbours and quite a close community. Close to me is:

Cinemas
All shops - High st, boutique, independant, markets etc
loads of hospitals
Brilliant pubs/clubs/restaurants/cafe's/bar's
One of the best gig venues in Glasgow almost next door (Barrowlands)
Huge park with museum/fountain/cafe/playparks/go kart track/ducks etc less than 1 minutes walk away
Huge choice of supermarkets - all within a 1 mile radius
Good public transport links to everywhere
1/2 hours drive and there is stunning countryside
Choice of schools - primary & secondary
Loads of theatres
Good arts council with loads happening for adults and kids
Shopping centres everywhere
Good diverse mix of people living here

The downsides would be that it's always busy and quite noisy and obviously polluted being a city centre. I have lived in the countryside before (Dingle, County Kerry in southern Ireland) and I loved it but can't afford to live in the country now so am quite happy here for the time being. I'll never run out of choice for things to do :flow:

I love it. Not so much in the winter though. We live a good 10 miles from the nearest village never mind town and it is a nightmare getting up the hill in thick snow which we always get even in a 4x4. There have been winters when we have been completely snowed in. Year before my oldest was born it was 2 weeks before we could get out! Luckily we had lots of baked beans in the cupboard.

Nope I hate it, I'm so far from my family, people and places I know

I like where we live! Its very rural & stunningly beautiful! I can see 3 beaches from my front windows! The only thing is that its a 16km round trip to the shop so Im super organised all the time! And its only a small town so its a 90min drive to Tescos or Aldi or anything so I only do that once a month! But we have great schools, lovely community, caring neighbours & its quite! So Ill put up with the driving in order to stay living here!

Yeah I like it here, It isnt the best of places but I love how local I am to everything.

I live 5 mins walk into town.
15 mins walk into the larger town.
I have a massive park at one end of my street across the main road and I have a small park at this end of my street.
I have 2 corner shops at one end of my street less than a min walk, and I have a large tesco express at the other end (I am bang in the middle of my road)
I have a Lidl across the main road by the park and various other shops.
I am 10 min walk from the seafront/beach
15 min walk from cinema, nightclubs.
The street next to mine is a childrens nursery and a church that hold baby weigh ins and stay and play.
I am 5 mins walk from my cousins flat and my aunts flat.
There are 4 nurserys within a 10 min walk and two primary schools.

Theres lots i love it here but there are downsides theres quite a lot of strange people in this area, lots of immigrants and low lifes ect but for us once the doors shut it doesnt bother us.

Yes. It's not my perfect but it is pretty damn nice. Our town could use improvement, Swindon isn't really the up and coming place to be haha. But it has everything we need. The area we are in is gorgeous. All private, all old build so plenty of space and the roads make sense. It's full of young families or old people. There is no through traffic at all and to quite sleepy and quiet. You never feel nervous or intimidated as your approach people, even a group of teens. People stop to pick up rogue litter to it in the bin, we take care of this area and keep it nice.

Our house is a brilliant size, with a small front garden overlooking the school and a large south facing back garden which is a sun trap. It's big enough for our large kitchen/diner plus a utility, large lounge and the separate diner has become a playroom. It's a 4 bed but one is Ians office. The only downside (but will be a positive once finished) is that it needed SO much work. Literally every room needs rewiring and plastering before we can even think about decorating. The downstairs loo and kitchen needed replacing quickly, are now done but took a long time. We even had fuse WIRE when we first moved in, floorboards needed ripping up to do mains earth bonding and the lot. It's all expensive work too so doing bit by bit, but once done we will hopefully have increased the value substaintially and be ale to move to our perfect house.

Our perfect house would be in a small village no more than 45 mins drive north or east of Swindon (for Ian's work and desire to stay close to his family) and ideally be a 5 bed, with a very large kitchen/diner/family room as one big open warm area, plus formal dining, formal lounge, playroom or by then a kids den AND an office. Double garage, large land and ideally a separate outbuilding to be a studio for my photography and workshop for cupcakers classes.

Grand designs and all. But Ian is due a large loyalty bonus from work in 5 years and by then I will be working again too, add that to the increased value from this house and I think it will be doable. That will be our ideal "forever" home.

Luckily we just got a new house, council, and it is in probably the nicest council street in our town. Its a gorgeous house in a rural area so feel lucky. The town (Huddersfield) on the other hand isn't great but it could be worse.

Yep. I love being near the sea, there's some seriously stunning beaches in this part of the world. I love all the different nationalities that live here, and all the shops/bars/restaurants. I also like that we have the biggest number of millionaires outside of London

I don't like Aberdeen being the most expensive place to live in Scotland, as it means I have to live in a one bed flat. I do own a house in Barnsley too though, which is why we can't afford anywhere bigger.

I live in gravesend its absolutely horrid tbh!

What sort of scummy place has someone try to steal the Olympic torch from the barer.... Says it all really.

Proper grotty place :D

where I live is not too bad, its a tiny cul de sac tucked away - I didn't even know it existed until I viewed the house. The house and garden is really small though and one of my favourite things about living here was the views of the fields as you walked down the road but now they have started building new houses and my view will be totally blocked !

The only reason I am considering staying is because the school and nursery is really good, although I still really want to move to Devon/Cornwall - I think that would be a lovely place to bring up a family.

I love where I live.
We live in a beautiful Cotswold village, I also work in the village and LO goes to nursery here.
The schools are amazing.
We live right on the edge, surrounded by farmland and bridleways, to get to nursery is a 15 minute walk over really picturesque countryside and river coln.
Our house is amazing, we bought it a year ago, have renovated it and hugely extended it, the garden is massive, the bedrooms are very large, our kitchen is amazing and all we look out on is open fields and the church.
It's also only a 3 minute walk from my mum and dads house.
It's taken a LOT of money and hard work but we have the house of our dreams :)

I did love it here.. it's a city of 500,000 on Lake Ontario, quite a bit to do, several hospitals, lots of schools, crime rate isn't very high (compared to other large cities nearby)... you can also get away to cottage country, the States, Toronto, etc in not THAT much driving time. Traffic isn't bad ever, etc.

My neighbourhood itself is fairly quiet, clean and peaceful. My house is 2 blocks from a large park, I can walk to 2 grocery stores, lots of places like Subway/pizza, 5+ schools (long walk but can walk). We're near bus routes and all of our friends, probably 15-30min walk from my parents/his dad/mom. It's really not bad.

HOWEVER I hate that the city is so large in a way, because each little area basically functions like a small town- ie I'll get groceries in my end of town not across town and up the hill... but then you're constantly running into people you know but don't necessarily want to see/talk to lol. Because of this we're planning a move :)

Nope I dont like it at all, I hate the flat we are in and y neighbours are all asses, got nothing against Southend personally just dont wont to live here, we are moving in Feb though and I cant bloody wait :flower:

Me too!!!!i hate everything I live in whitstable its pretty place but I'm not enjoying it at all all i see is elderly people on their little vehicles lol I don't gave nothing against that tho there are some young mums but they rude I have been in sure start centre with my lo and I had feelings that they talking behind my back about the way I look(most of them look chavy I don't)I wear high heels and I like to make myself presentable at all the time iykwim?i don't know a single soul here and we've been here over a year!we use to live in Surrey and after new year we are going back there thank God!!!!i hate my house too its new build and everything is breaking in it basically corners being cut everything done as quick and cheap as possible!!!
Oh I can't wait to get out of here!!!

I do generally like where i live. It's a reasonable sized town - i actually live right on the border of two towns so i get the pluses of both :)
It's right by the sea and i love the sea - when i say right by i mean it takes me 30/40min to walk there but only about 5min to drive. We are fairly close to the New Forest too and about 1hr 45min from London so i think we have everything within easy distance.
The actual part of the town i live in is pretty nice - we live on a tree lined avenue and are about a 2 min walk from the local river. It's a nice area but not too posh - just normal. I would say i feel safe in my local area.

However i would never go into the local town centre of an evening - it's just a real unsafe feeling about it. Also we have a large number of drug rehab places in the town and so there are a lot of druggies around.

I live in a 2 bedroom tenement flat in the east end of glasgow and love it :) we're 6 minutes from the city centre by train, right next to bus stops and the train station and there are two main streets with shops plus a shopping centre nearby.

it has a reputation for being a bit rough but really it's not that bad, I've lived here for 5 years now and haven't felt unsafe :)

would love to have a house with a garden though!
