Do you use strollers for infants in the U.S.?

Hey y'all!
Silly north-European wondering:
Is it normal for Americans to use strollers/prams/buggies for infants? Do you have a special, super secretive term for it?
I'm trying to google too see if I can buy the same kinds of strollers over there as I can here, but it really doesn't look like it. Babies R Us only has strollers for kids old enough to sit up, I think.

I've lived in Texas for about 2 years, but recently moved back to Norway with my Texan husband. And thinking about it, I don't recall seeing anyone pushing around a real pram thing with a lay-down bag/bassinet. Not even on TV.
Don't y'all use those? I've only seen people dragging their infants around in car seats, I think.

The reason I'm asking is that we're planning on going back to the US asap, and have a baby on the way. And we OFC have to get a real deal baby stroller for the good times of forceful exercise of unfortunate Texan men married to mean foreigners who likes long walks in uphill tractor roads during snowstorms.

Can you buy Simo strollers over there? Or Emmaljunga? And extra equipment/add ons for them? In real life stores? Ebay doesn't count.

We over here consider this to be one of the most important purchases before the baby comes out. Is used for everything!

We use strollers. Most people get travel system which is a carseat and stroller. The carseat fits into the stoller for infants.

In north america we usually always use a car seat for infants (ages 0-9 months or so) that will click into a base in the vehicle and then can go to a stroller, like in the picture. We don't use bassinets really at all. You can purchase them at most stores, but babies only use them for quite a short time that the price just doesn't work out. Also, the car seat way means not having to move baby from the car to the seat, we just pick up the seat and baby is not disrupted at all.

Love how a Norwegian uses the word "y'all" it's very cute.

For our newborn we use the car seat and a "snap n' go" stroller which is just a skeleton stroller that the car seat snaps on. I intend to use this for the first few months. I like it because it fits comfortably in the car, and I can snap the car seat in or out very easily and carry it. For later months I have a citi mini jogging stroller.

Most people in the US have a travel system like pictured above. BUT there are some high end strollers that have the bassinet part...we got one for our new baby and I LOVE it.

Not a great pic of the stroller itself but you can see the bassinet, it faces you or out and then comes with the toddler seat to face you or out as well. It's really an awesome stroller....UppaBaby Vista

Most of us just drag our babies around in the infant carriers. Most of the full size strollers do recline completely flat for a newborn to lay down in. There are fancier bassinet strollers that are ungodly expensive and usually only available online. Try BuyBuyBaby.com.

We have travel systems. Car seat clips into the stroller! But when we go shopping if there are store carts I put the carseat on the store cart.

Theres a Britax Stroller that i know you can buy a bassinet add on for it and things like that. There are lots of add ons you can buy for this stroller.

We just carried him in a sling. I'd say most people go for a travel system that incorporates their car seat.

it has a bassinet and a sitting up position.
plus you can clip your carseat into it.

My stroller you can click the carseat in it so the baby is facing you and semi upright, then when the baby grows you can have them either laying flat or upright in the regular seat part, without the carseat and facing away from you. Pretty convenient!

But... I thought infants weren't supposed to lay curved like that much? But I guess with the way your society is set up to have to drive everywhere, that's kind of the only way, or at least the best and easiest solution.

mommyof3co: Yes, that's what I'm talking about.

We use our bassinet strollers (which most of them turns in to normal jogging strollers) for nap time, sleeping in day care, we can go for a walk and visit somebody and take the whole bag/bassinet out of the base with the kid in it and use it as a bed wherever we're going.
Some people let their babies sleep outside in it with a baby call. Winter or summer.
And also we have to go for an hour walk at least every day, or your neighbor will call child protective services on you for being a crappy parent.

Ofc they do cost alot, but the expensive ones are meant to be used until the kid no longer needs a stroller.

So I guess my best bet would be to buy it over here and fly it over.
