Hey Ladies
I am about to go to my first doctors appointment since my m/c and BFP a week ago. I really like my doctor, I believe he is on my side and will basically order whatever test I think I might want....however, I live in a small town and he is super busy. I would like to have a list of questions ready to make good use of our time together. So, I am wondering if I can get some input on what to ask, what/when early scans you got etc... I can't seem to find a list online, altho there are hundreds for first pregnancy and after loss but no PGAL?!? If you know of one could you please send me the link??
Background: my m/c was 2 months (3 cycles) ago, it was natural, the testing showed a chromosomal/structural issue (per report). I have no other medical issues and I am 4 weeks today! Thank you thank you thank you! I will be putting this list out there somewhere online so hopefully it will help someone else too.

oh p.s. got bfp at 9 dpo....should I ask about multiples/why I got that?

Sorry you didn't get a response sooner.

I wouldn't be too concerned with multiples- alot of people get a + at 9dpo.
I believe in the UK they do not routinely check HCG levels. In the US it is much more common.
I would be curious about your progesterone levels, but the previous mc was not related to progesterone so again will not likely be tested.

My big questions would be when do they plan on the 1st ultrasound (hopefully by 7-8 weeks) and will there be a 12 week ultrasound and chromosomal blood testing done. Also, because of the previous mc would they be more likely to want an amniocentisis?
Will you monitored differently because of the previous mc?

Lastly, because you are at 4 weeks, very little will be determined today. Likely just a urine test and maybe an HCG blood test. Otherwise, I wouldn't expect much testing to be done today.

Hope this helps and good luck.

My drs protocol is to confirm my pg with a urine test, order up a quantitative hCG so we have a baseline number, and schedule an early u/s. I also go in for my first OB appointment around 7-8 weeks as opposed to the usual 10-12 weeks most drs around here prefer and I take 200 mg of progesterone supplements for my first trimester as I have very low progesterone levels. With my son (who was my first full-term pregnancy) she ordered quant hCGs 2x a week for 4 weeks to monitor my hormone levels but now she only orders them if I have problems like bleeding or cramping. We just get the baseline number at my first appointment so if something does happen, we have a number to compare to.
