Does anyone else think £600 - £800 is a bit steep for a pram?! ** update last page **

My mum and dad bought us our pram as there present to us and it cost them around £500 for everything. I have a silvercross 3d and i cant fault it, it was deffinatly money well spent. I think if you can afford to spend that kind of money then why not spend it, as someone said earlier on in this thread what else better to spend your money on than your child

I've never heard of a baby pooing in a pram lol wtf

I had to go through 4 different brands of diapers when my son was a baby before I found a brand that didn't leak like crazy. Breastfed babies have really soft poo that leaves kindof a dark mustard colored permanent stain on everything it touches. It will occasionally immediately go right up and out the back of the diaper, through the clothes and stain the back of where ever they are sitting. It will also leak out the leg of the diaper really easily. I finally found a brand that fit him properly when he was about 3mths old after trying a bunch of different ones. With my daughter, the brand that worked on my son, leaked on her. Went through 3 or 4 different ones to find the right fit on her. It's probably only an issue I guess with breastfed babies because I think formula fed babies have firmer poo. I'm not sure because neither of my kids ever drank a drop of formula.

ditto ER :) its fun testing them :) i feel a bit daft going into the likes of mothercare at mo to have a play...roll on 15 weeks haha

Surely they'd have clothes on though?!
haha yer but wee tends to just leek out of clothes spesh baby grows, and if they have skirts on an things its not much to hold up . saying all this im going for a baige pram or white and black haha. oh well thats what washing machines r for:rofl:

Yeah but 9/10 its gonna leak up their back not the legs cos of the elastic

+ omg white or beige  You're brave.

My baby hasn't ever had formula either  She doesn't have ANY poo stained clothes. It's only really an issue for really young babys anyway cos as soon as their weaned their poo goes firm and you don't have the 'mustard' stains.

Ive been looking at prams for the last few days (cant help it im excited lol ) and i saw one for 1200!!! it was really nothing special i ended up finding one for 200 euro that i really love in mothercare, 3 wheeler that transforms from a pram into a buggy so its suitable from birth to 4 years and looks exactly the same as the 800 ones except nicer! So i'll be picking that one up in a few months!!

I don't give mine anything but breastmilk til 6mths like they suggest. I produce an overabundance of milk anyway so I might as well, yaknow? But you are right about it being mostly when they are young. I really think that diapers just don't fit right no matter what the brand until they are 3mths old. Unfortunately by then the carseat and stroller already had stains on the back that i never could get out. I just ended up using cheaper ones while they were really little and buying nicer ones as they got bigger. Of course, at 6mths old they started smushing food into everything when they were snacking and making new impossible to remove stains. My hubby actually wanted to buy a new couch before the baby comes but I refuse to let him. No use in doing that and then just needing another one in a year after it's been christened by baby. Doesn't bother me though. Kids are supposed to be messy!

Sounds like a bargain hun, yeah I can see this pram shopping turning into a new addicition...

Oh I had a huge poop explosion at the mall here.
I had the cover down over Helena, and it was after she ate pears and prunes for breakfast because she was backed up.

IT WAS EVERYWHERE. I had to strip her down in the mall bathroom, throw out her clothes, changepad, and use the sink to wash off her stroller. I had to go buy her clothes out in the mall and I looked so ghetto carrying a kid around in just a diaper.

Luckily my stroller is brown.

Also, my son was leakier than my daughter.. but that could be because my ex had to do most of the diapers early on with my son because I was in the hospital mostly until he was a few months old. He was afraid to put the diaper on tight. My daughter stained probably 3 out of 10 outfits though. Some were tiny stains, most I had to just throw out. Now I just make sure to never pay so much for anything that I would be upset if I had to throw it out.

It already is!! haha ive been looking at vintage pram shops that ship abroad and everything  This is the buggy!! cute or what!! :happydance:

Hah! When my son was small my ex made the mistake of putting the fresh diaper on a table behind him and instead of moving the diaper to baby he picked up baby and moved him to the diaper.. he pooed all down my ex's really expensive shirt. It was awesome. He peed on the doctor during an exam too before we even left the hospital.

I wouldn't spend that much on one since it's almost a thousand US dollars. If you have the money I guess go for it. I think it's a bit much.

It does indeed but im afraid its no longer in the lead :haha: I found a juicy couture pushchair that is absoloutly GORGEOUS and has rave reviews on several mother and baby websites, ive even sorted out the shipping costs its so cute ahhhh i must have it!! hehe just got to pray for a girl now so i can get it hahaha its soooooooo cute!!! :happydance:

I guess if you can afford it then why not spend it .... However, we are on a tight budget and I have got a nearly new Mothercare car seat and pram/buggy from freecycle for free. I have also looked on ebay too but luckily I got mine for free with loads of extras too.
