Does sperm really live 5 days?

I just find this quite hard to believe that it can manage to stay up there, alive and waiting for 5 days especially considering it seems most comes out straight after bding, then when you go to the toilet, bath, stand all day etc.

It CAN live up to 5 days, (and I was reading that one woman had live sperm in her for much longer than that, but that is NOT common).

From what I read, it usually can live up 1-7 days, depending on the man's sperm and the womans CM. If it is really fertile mucus, it helps the sperm survive much longer.

It generally survives for around 2 days, i'd say 5 days+ would be an exception.

That is a funny idea!! Yeah I think they are at the best around 24-48 hrs!!

I think they usually live about 48 hours but they can live up to 72 hours.
The stuff that comes out after BD is usually just the seminal fluid - this does not mean that the sperm is coming out. The sperm is still going up inside you, leaving the seminal fluid to fall back out again. so don't worry about what comes out.

It can live up to 5 days but you are talking optimal conditions and one lucky biatch!! Did anyone catch the medical programme on last night on BBC2?? It was all about the male and female reproductive organs it was really interesting and gave some great demonstrations on the conditions that the sperm has to survive in and how far it has to travel!!! The doctor kept referring to the cervix as "inhospitable, dangerous territory for sperm"!! Kind of made me depressed to be honest!!

That it is....although I haven't tried preseed yet!!!
The doctor filled a glass with this gloopy syrup then said that a sperm has to rotate its flagellum (tail) to push its way through the CM. Some of the sperm get tired and rest then try again later (the ones that live longer) while some die, while some strong uber sperm survive then head up towards the egg using their attraction to the smell the egg gives off......i'm not making this up....and apparantly the smell is similar to that used in lily of the valley perfume!!!!! You really should have seen it! It was funny (and scary)!!!!

I have a small comfy towel that OH always gets after bedding, i place it between my legs and almost always fall asleep with it there, i wake up at like 2/3am in the morning to go wee and then always count holly crap i gave them 5-6hours gravity free swimming time... Whoooo hoooo.
