does your midwife

really? must be a UK thing. My midwife has been measuring me since 12wks

started measuring me once i hit the second tri i believe, and now I get measured weekly...

Your supposed to be measured every few weeks from 26 weeks onwards. My best friend wasnt and it wasnt until she went to c a specialist doctor about coming off anixety tablets, and by chance that he measured her bump "just out of curiosity" that they found out her baby was small for size and had to be put on growth watch, she was delivered 4 weeks later at 34 weeks weighing 3lb because she wasnt growing properly. She was told that if it had gone un-noticed her baby would have been a stillborn.

Please push to have your selves measured.

I've been measured at every appt since 28 weeks but to be honest it's not very accurate. Last Tues I was 32 weeks & measured at 33.5 weeks..... the very next day I saw a diff midwife who measured me at dead on 32 weeks!?!?!

Mine always started from after 26 weeks

Think she measured fundus height from 28 weeks. Depends on the midwife by the looks of thinks : /

My mw too - I had my first measurement at 28weeks....got my 32wk appt tomorrow so will expect another measurement..

its in my notes to measure from around 34 weeks, so my MW has been doing this

Iv been getting measured every app since about 26/27 weeks i think

28 weeks for me, but I was told then my next appt is 34 weeks, seems like a long wait!

I have been measured every visit from about 16 weeks! she also checks babies position every visit since about 30 weeks.

28 weeks. I agree with the poster that said to ask your mw to measure you

Mine measured at 28 weeks and has been feeling for baby's position for about 2 months now. She's head down already!

I've never been measured. Although I had a bedside ultrasound at 27+5 and 31+5 because I had concerns my bump was too small.

Mine's like the head of midwifery so thinks she knows everything and always measured by guesstimate, always said i was measuring 'fine' but then I asked her one time to use the tape measure out of curiousity and she has used it ever since at each appointment from about 33 weeks :flower:

It's not necessary to measure the bump to determine whether or not the baby is growing sufficiently! I'm studying midwifery and my textbook states that it is not accurate and should not be relied upon (on it's own) as an indicator of growth. Some midwives/doctors will measure with a tape, some will 'measure' growth by feeling the location of the top of the uterus and the size of the baby. Normally if there is any concern you will be sent for a scan to ensure that baby is following his/her growth curve. I was never measured with a tape, although my midwife felt my uterus and baby during each visit.

My midwife started measuring me at 25 weeks onwards :)
