So, those who have a dog(s) do they live in doors or our doors?? And why?

:flow:

I don't have a dog at present, although I would love one, I am only interested in ONE breed of dog (an Alaskan malamute) and I know that to get one, I need Tegan and #2 to be old enough to not be scared of it because they are big dogs, and I need to have enough spare time on my hands to train my dog well, walk it, work it, and groom it.

Mallies are a breed of dog that are often kept outside because they are bred as sled dogs, they shed a lot, and sometimes they are used for working primarily and are not 'family' dogs. I believe if the dogs are kept as a pack (4 or more) and they have adequate housing and food/water, then keeping THIS breed outside is fine, as they have the coat for it, are fine without too much human interaction and as long as they are worked hard they get the mental stimulation they need.
However, on the whole, I don't agree with dogs being kept outdoors. A family pet should be kept within the home, where it is warm and safe. Dogs are stolen all the time. It's so cold out there - I don't even let my cat out, so no way would I leave a dog out!

Indoor. I don't have the space outside to build heated kennels. My dogs are also part of the family, I wouldn't want to keep them outside. Especially with the snow we're having. I own a German Shepherd, Mastiff and a collie/terrier rescue.

i have 2 rotties, they both live inside there family pets so they stay with us, its way to cold outside for them they sleep in the hall way under the stairs, xx

If ur getting a dog as a working dog then outside is fine but if it's a family pet I think inside. I've lived net to people who've had family dogs and kept them outside...the noise they made all night would drive me nuts

Indoor dogs deffinately .. I can't see the point otherwise

I'd only ever have dogs indoors, probably even a working dog! I have a mini poodle who definitely wouldn't appreciate being kenneled!

both our dogs live indoors, i dont see the point of having them as pets if they are stuck outside lol

My babies are indoor dogs. They do sleep outdoors if the weather is nice. If the weather is bad they are in bed with me. But during their waking hours, they are always inside with Emma & I. :D Do people actually leave their dogs outside 24-7? I couldn't do that. I also could never put them in a kennel/cage either. They have free roam of my house.

Our dog is defininatly an inside dog. She's a Keeshond and they like to be with their "people", it in their genes

Definately outdoors, love our dogs to death but only outside pets. It doesn't get that cold here and they both have their own kennels as well.

This is an old saying but i just heard it the other day thought it was funny.
Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and then Complain About Our Pets

1. The pets live here. You don’t.
2. If you don’t want to get licked or sniffed by them, then talk to us through the door.
3. Chances are, I love my pet more than I like you.
4. To you they are just animals. To me, they are babies and family who are hairy, walk on all fours and don't talk back.

Its a light hearted joke, so don't take offensive. :flower: my doggy lives with us in our home. Couldn't dream of him being outside, however much he drives me crazy! It's cold out there lol

I have 3 Jack Russells and they all live indoors ... they have a dog flap so that they can come in and out of the house as they please during the day and evening but they sleep indoors at night :happydance:
