Still in the early weeks of breastfeeding, coming up to 5 weeks. The first few weeks, I could tell when baby needed feeding as my boobs would feel full, get a bit firmer. Now they just feel squishy all the time. I used to be able to tell which side she's fed from last just by feeling, now they just feel the same. Is this right?? I thought I'd carry in getting the fullness constantly? I worry she's not getting enough, she doesn't feed for very long anymore, lucky if its 5 minutes, whereas it was 30-45 minutes. I also think I have an over active let down after reading about it on here. She kinda chokes, pulls herself off, then gets sprayed with milk (who knew how far it could go?!). Just concerned they never feel full anymore. x

My breasts settled down after awhile and never felt full - it's no an indication of not having enough milk. Some babies are also just efficient feeders and eat more quickly than others. Is she gaining weight and having plenty of wet nappies? Is she settled after a feed? If so I would think you're proba ly all good :)

She was weighed today and she's put on 1lb in the past two weeks. Plenty of wet and dirty nappies. Sometimes she's settled, but not always. The past few days she's started being sick after most feeds, so then she's hungry again as her tummy is empty, then sick again, etc. good to know its not a milk supply problem, just assumed they'd always feel full!! Thank you x

It's really unusual for them to feel full long term while BF and trust me, it's not fun. For some bizarre reason with my second youngest my supply never settled so I would get fullness, engorgement, leaking and all the stuff associated with that such as clogged ducts day in day out until he was 11 months. Even after that if he went for a good few hours without feeding I would experience problems right up until I was about 10 weeks into the pregnancy with my youngest. This time things settled at the 2-3 week stage and I much prefer it xx

Thank you! Relieved to know its normal. I do leak constantly though, hoping that settles down soon!! x

Your little girl was born on my daughter's first birthday. it's a good date ;) x

Yup it's normal.

Once she sleeps longer you may find you get engorged a little.

DD did 7 hours last night and my left boob which had by then gone 10 hours without a feed was like a rock when we woke up!

It is normal, but I'd work on that over active let down. Try nursing her in a recline position so she has to suck harder to get the milk. It'll help with the letdown and prevent her from sputtering at the breast. She's also likely gotten very efficient which is why her sessions aren't as long, and that's a good thing!

With your let down .. Pull the boob out and let it spray into a cloth ... Did this for a few days and it settled itself ...

My boobs have gone hard soft u name it... Don't freak out if they go hard again then soft ... It may happen ...

Hope all is going well for u lexi... After following u in pregnancy section I'm glad things are working out for u

Been pulling her off for the let down for a few days and letting it spray into a cloth/muslin, it's definitely not spraying for as long! We try to feed leaning back on the sofa, apart from at night where we lay down and usually fall asleep together. I have to sleep on a towel for how much I leak, and keep a kitchen towel to hand for the other boob when I'm feeding as it just won't stop leaking whilst I'm feeding! I did but some sleep feeding bras, but having breast pads rubbing on me all night made me sore, and I hated wearing a bra 24/7.

Thank you iwantabub, things are going really well, just so happy. With the odds of her not making it home being 50/50, I'm just so pleased she arrived safely and is healthy. xx
