Don't like it when my threads get redirected from baby club

I think the reasons behind ur two posts being in Baby Club make perfect sense. The ones that 'slip through the net' always seem to be the dramatic ones - it's as though it's ok to post non-baby stuff in Baby Club if it's something that will spark drama/debate...

Maybe the problem is that baby club is too undefined?

hx

I dont agree with even more sub forums, surely thats under the Baby Club umbrella?
As for the debates i agree.

I think the answer is obvious - let's all use the subforums more!

That can be quite difficult to do when you have little time on your hands or are on your phone though. That's what i find anyway x

Well its not ... if its spotted then its moved, simple as that.

There is a whole forum to moderate, not just baby club :dohh:

I'm a fan of threads being in the appropriate section but just as some threads get moved, others stay in Baby Club even when they shouldn't be. Eg Osama Bin Laden; Breastfeeding Babies Better Behaved etc which should be put in News and Debates x

this I def agree with but it doesnt get moved?? xx

Obviously some slip through the net, but if people see them and report them to us, we will move them to the appropriate section

just read this thats good to know xx

I use my phone mainly (albeit a BlackBerry) but it still shows up shadows.

I think the main problem is if you have a problem that's not specific to the early parts (ie most on Breastfeeding are early BFing issues or latching issues, the Weaning forum seems to be mainly how to wean rather than developing weaning) you post in Baby Club. But like I said before, a shadow still remains, I for one will still respond even though Baby Club is where I mainly spend my time.

And right now, I don't know where to post at all. Harry has just turned one. He's not a baby by any means but as he's not walking I also don't feel he's a toddler and, sleep wise, he has a lot of the problems he technically shouldn't have.

Sorry if it's already been said, but if you go to user CP it takes you to your thread wherever it's been put? (which I didn't realise till about 6 weeks ago!) :dohh:

if I'm missing the point, I appologise I've been up since 5.30 this morn!

Oh and also we need a combo feeding forum too!

lol I never knew this for AGES and AGES haha then I clicked on it and there were LOADS of things I had replyed too xx

I didnt read all the posts but i hate it too, with some things i understand but ive been a member on here since i was first pregnant with Charlie and I came on here not too long ago asking people something off topic and it got moved somewhere no one ever goes, i got so ticked i almost left the boards, i needed help with something and it was incredibly important to a program I was applying for that would allow me to stay home for an extra year with Charlie, not like I was a troll just asking random things.....thanks for listening to me vent lol

Ok, sticking my neck out here a bit, but what I've noticed (and contributes to the problem) is that it seems once every couple of weeks a ton of threads will be moved to their proper board, but then for the next couple of weeks, all sorts of threads are left on the baby board. If the moves were more consistent then people would know that there would never be any bf or ff (or whatever) threads on the baby board. Know what I mean?

Nope, i agree, but there are often other priorities, plus we all have home lives, moving threads isnt always top on the "to do" list

People do still intentially post though, even if a moderator made time to come in every day and move threads, the amount of "o/t but" or "i know this shouldnt be in here but" threads is getting silly

I understand why the mods and admin have to do this, but sometimes it can get frustrating. There was a facebook thread started in baby club awhile back (not the recent ones) for everyone who wanted to add each other on Facebook. It was moved to General Chatter. Don't get me wrong, I understand WHY it was moved, but there are a lot of people from BC that don't go on general chatter, and vice versa...so I had people adding me that I've never even seen on BnB before, because I rarely go into General Chatter. :haha: It wasn't a bad thing or anything, but hopefully you understand what I mean....

i also think the admins should create a "sleep training" sub-forum...as most threads i see are about sleep issues, and I noticed that on page two there'll be 2 different threads asking the same thing, and then on page one another 3 threads asking the same thing. it'd be so much easier if they were all in one place!

Thanks, will discuss the possibilty with admin and other mods, but yes, scrolling through there are quite a lot of sleep related threads!!

Just FYI we've taken this suggestion and are giving it some serious consideration, afterall what do babies do most in their first few months of life?

Keep your eyes out :)

thanks! im glad my idea may come in useful. i know a lot of people are complaining about the subforum, but maybe if we all started to post in the appropriate subforums, more traffic to those places would mean more replies.

like i said before i think a board wide message to remind people to post in the correct subforums would help.

and i think that maybe a moderator or a few admins could keep a closer eye on the thread sin baby club over the next few days to start moving all the threads to the right sub forums would help get things moving int he right direction too!

I like what another person posted about breaking "baby club" into segmented age groups...like 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12...or something similar. At least this way, if your baby is 10-12 mos, you could avoid all the threads that relate to newborns that are otherwise irrelevant to you.

^^^ I too like this idea..

Alot of the sleep threads at the moment seem to be the sleep regressions but the way you deal with them all are different depending on their ages - I know for a fact that the way I dealt with Ellies 4 month regression is completely different to her 8 month one, as she was more aware of a lot more.

The same with feeding - 0-3 months would purely be questions about getting into a routine/bottle making/latching on, etc

where 6-9 months would be about combining your feeds with your weaning schedule and dropping feeds

so even though at the moment it seems like there all the same type of threads alot of them are completely different as there different age related

^ Well mine is 15 months and I'm still herel. I'd need one of those little sections just for me :haha: Only because my baby is a really slow developer physically, isn't even cruising yet, so Toddler section isn't for me yet and I feel a bit out of place here too! I wish there was an in-between forum lol but there isn't so I just straddle. And User CP is your friend when you want to find missing threads, I agree
